Northern Pulp Forest Nursery
Position: Forest Nursery Worker
Start Date: April 10, 2023 (flexible with in the month of April)
Hours: 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday
Wage: $16.00/hour
Type: SeasonalThe nursery is a greenhouse operation for the forestry industry that grows roughly 6 million seedlings a year mostly for reforestation. All seedlings are grown on site for one or two years before being shipped out and planted in the bush or in privately owned Christmas tree lots.
Duties Include:
1. Work on a mechanical type seeding line as well as some manual seeding when required.
2. Relocate seeded flats and/or seedlings to and from greenhouses and within holding areas.
3. Thin and transplant newly germinated seedlings in jiffy flats.
4. Weed undesirable plants from seedling crops.
5. Root prune seedlings in jiffy flays using manual or mechanical root pruners.
6. Load trucks with full seedling trays for shipping.We are looking for individuals that are self motivated and versatile, someone that works well as a team member but also by themselves. A typical day is 8 hours, starting at 7:30am, Monday to Friday. Most days will be in a greenhouse, but other jobs can require work outside. This can change from day to day, so it is recommended that you bring extra clothes for all weather conditions.
The jobs can be physically demanding and might require you to stand for extended periods of time, lift 16kg repeatedly, or work in undesirable climates like rain or high temperatures. It is also required that all employees wear CSA approved safety footwear that extends above the ankle (not provided).

• Receive and process change orders, review with client before approval.
• Prepares preliminary design sketches.
• Use of panel design software to do wall panel layout and design.
• Reviews designs, specifications, alterations, cost estimates and that quality control checks are completed at appropriate stages within the project follow through to final approval.
• Meet with clients and/or engineers to discuss the customer requirements, expectations and budget on all projects as required.
• Ordering of all materials in a timely manner to ensure production remains efficient.Qualifications:
• Diploma or Degree in CET, AET or CMT program.
• Experience with wood framing, estimating, CAD and design software considered an asset.
• Ability to read shop drawings.
• Dependable and reliable.
• Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to multi-task.
• Ability to work effectively independently.
• WHMIS an asset.
