BEAUTIFUL SPORTSCAR

The Austin Healey Cobra … or the car that might have been the Cobra , had Carrol Shelby got his way back in 1961 …… In that year, Carroll Shelby approached Donald Healey with the idea of putting a V8 engine into the Austin-Healey 3000 to improve its performance. Regrettably for Shelby Healey was not interested ….. he saw this idea as a distraction as he was assembling and selling as many completed Healeys as he possibly could screw together with 90 percent of production going to North America. However …..Another name in Shelby’s Rolodex was Charles Hurlock, who owned A.C. cars in Thames Ditton, Surry, UK. Hurlock was interested and in 1962 the 1st AC V8 SHELBY roadster was assembled …… and the rest is history. AC cars is still in business making today, of all things, electric Cobras at a list price of over $250,000.

Now back to my car …...An ex works steel body V8 Austin Healey will set you back about $100,000, or you can buy my fiberglass version for $28,000.
Why am I selling such a beautiful car? The ONLY reason is that I am moving to South Africa where left hand drive vehicles are prohibited so regrettably I can’t take it with me.
