Traditional Horsehair Mecates made right here in the Caribou!!
These Mecates are made from 100% natural horsehair and each one is a one of a kind, hand made rope. Each rope is unique and has a special feel of its own. These are four strand Mecates and do not have a core for a lighter/softer feel.
Mecates are traditionally paired with a bosal to create a hackamore-used in the first steps of creating the traditional bridle horse. Or they can be paired with a set of slobber straps and attached to a snaffle bit.For sale currently
- a grey, black and brown with white fleck pictured in photo #3 & 4. This is a 5/8 rope, 24 feet long. $325
- a flaxen, sorrel and white with brown fleck pictured in photos #5 & 6. This is a 5/8 rope, 20 feet long. $375.I can discuss custom work-but wait times will be dictated by the cows and calving!! Depending on availability of hair color, I can usually get one finished within a week or so. I will also have split reins and more get down lines available in the future.
