Job Description:Southwestern Manufacturing Inc. operates in a competitive global market producing wide ranging metal-based assemblies and components across a variety of industry sectors including but not limited to Mining, Oil & Gas, Crane, and Drag-line Components, Agricultural, Machine building, and Heavy Equipment Manufacturing. Increased over the years, our extensive plant capacity is spread across four facilities manned by over 200 employees. It incorporates shot blasting, stress relieving, fitting, welding, machining, non-destructive testing, final paint, right on through to our own logistics network, resulting in high value finished items across many diverse sectors. Southwestern Manufacturing Inc. is seeking 1 permanent full-time (minimum of 40 - 48 hours per week) experienced LEVEL 1 Weld Inspector to start as soon as possible. This position is required for the day shift, but we do operate on a rotating shift of days and afternoons. Job RequirementsA minimum of 3 years’ experienceLevel 1 CWB Supervisor certification is requiredExperience in a leadership role is an assetEnglish languageSecondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalentMust be able to read fabrication blueprintsWill be expected to inspect using manual measuring tools and completing reports with dimensional and visual inspection of fabricationsExperience in a heavy fabrication environment is requiredKnowledge and expertise of welding techniques, including gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) (TIG), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux core arc welding (FCAW), and multi-pass weldingCurrent welding certification is requiredAble to stand for extended periods of time within a fast-paced environmentAttention for detail and ability to meet tight deadlinesMust be an excellent communicatorLeadership skills – strong team motivatorAbility to multi-taskAbility to improve-maintain efficiency, productivity, and qualityMust be computer literate (basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite) DutiesRead and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals, and processesInterpret welding process specificationsOperate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipmentOperate oxygen arc cutting equipmentOperate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and productsExamine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications We offerCompetitive wagesA comprehensive benefits package including medical, vision, dental, life insurance & pension plan$2.00 afternoon shift premiumOvertime after 40 hoursOpportunity to be part of a growing, diverse team Southwestern Manufacturing Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
