If you’re thinking about adding a pet pig to your family, please consider the following so you can make a truly informed decision.
Your local farm animal sanctuaries take in dozens of unwanted pigs that were previously kept as pets. It’s devastating for them, to suddenly leave the comfort of a family home and be dropped off at a sanctuary. It’s confusing and sad, and many potbellies become depressed. But this is the reality of pet pig breeding; most are rehomed at least once before the age of two.
Pigs are not house pets, and while they like dogs and can get along, it’s a dangerous relationship that often results in tragedy. They require lots of space to wander and root, activity and enrichment, and in most cases, a safe, pig-proof, all-weather house of their own. Most importantly, they do best with another piggy companion to bond with. In fact, it’s a rare family that’s actually equipped to properly provide these wonderful animals with what they need to thrive.
And let’s just get this out of the way: THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS A MINI PIG!! If you end up with a 50-80lb pig you’re in the lucky minority. Some breeders will show you the parent ‘mini’ pigs who are actually only 6-12 months old and will continue to grow for another couple of years. Plan on a potbelly that will reach anywhere from 100 to 350lbs, but don’t discount the particularly loathsome breeders who will sell you a farm piglet as a micro-mini…she could easily reach 800-900lbs+! Mini pig? No. Baby pig who will grow for the next few years? Yup. Google ‘Happily Ever Esther’ to learn more about her story and others like her.
Pigs require a lot of enrichment, can be destructive in ways that would shock even the most seasoned dog owner, and can develop serious behavioural challenges or aggression as they mature. Need to neuter or spay to counteract this? Hopefully you’re able to access a vet who does the surgery, and brace yourself for the price tag for a spay - here in most southern part of ON it’s $1500 IF you can get to the Ontario Vet College hospital in Guelph, which is several hours away.
So we find ourselves with a problem: an ever-growing number of unwanted pet pigs with breeders continuing to multiply and sell their animals for monetary gain.
The good news? Pigs do well living with other pigs in a sanctuary setting. Once hierarchy is sorted, they form strong bonds with their new pig family. The bad news? There are so many unwanted potbellys, most sanctuaries are full and forced to turn them away. Sanctuaries have a finite amount of space and money. Because that’s what it takes - a lot of $$ to house, feed, and provide medical care to these guys. Most sanctuaries run 100% on volunteers and donations, and often find themselves either in a financially precarious situation, or in the devastating position of having to say no to an animal in need. It’s lose-lose some days. And yes, every day these beautiful animals are killed for their meat…some breeders even advertise as “pet or meat”. Unwanted pigs are far more vulnerable than unwanted cats or dogs.
So how can you help? Spread the word - counteract the irresponsible breeding through educating the public. Encourage adoption for those who have decided to add a potbelly to their family, and consider becoming a financial supporter of your local sanctuary - they will use it to save lives.
Still interested in adopting a pet pig and ready to commit for life, which could be 20+ years?? Visit the pet pig rescue and rehoming groups on Facebook, where you will find dozens of families desperately searching for homes for the beloved pigs they can no longer keep.

We are going away in May. I want to secure care for Atlas, our 9-month old mixed breed Labrador, Boarder Collie. He is 75lbs and not fixed. He gets along well with cats and dogs (see photo attached). He is well behaved.
Exercise requirements - As he is a lab he requires a minimum of a walk a day to release energy.
We are looking for someone to keep him in their home. If you are interested and feel you could provide great care for our pup while we are away please reach out by phone (text/call) or email to discuss it further!
Thanks,

Hello, I am Dee. I am a compassionate pet owner and animal lover. I’ve had many pets throughout my life including dogs, cats, hamsters and fish. I have taken care of friends and family pets while they were away. I am a cat owner to “Big Boy”. He was adopted December 2022 from the local human society. He’s an awesome fur baby who loves to follow me around and take many cat naps a day. He is nurtured and well behaved.
I would love to offer cat boarding in my home. I live in a house that is secure. It’s clean and pet friendly. At this time I’d like to only offer cat boarding. I am also open to coming to your home to check in on your pet, but ideally I prefer if you would bring your cat to my home. I work from home so I am always available and around to keep your cat well cared for and entertained. I will provide the litter box and food dishes, I just ask if you could provide your own cat food and litter. I am offering this service for $20 per day. I can provide daily updates on your fur baby if desired. If this sounds like a good fit, please send me a message to further discuss. Please provide me with the dates as well, if possible.
Thank you for reading.

*************When trapping always immediately check if cat is female and may have had kittens including feral ear tipped cats.**********
January 21- https://youtu.be/Lr7KrARn1DM Follow link for new video closeup at 5:30 into video. Super Floof appears to be back earlier in evening (9:30PM) again since last week; I thought it was different cat because of grey colour in dark until you shine light on kitty. Also appears to be good friends with grey brown black tabby that comes around.
Dec. 26- Have not seen this kitty since it was trapped and released; still may be coming around while I am asleep. Merry Christmas
Nov. 30- I recall seeing this cat in Kijiji Pets Cats & Kittens to Rehome but did not screenshot the page because it was probably far enough away I did not believe it would make it to my neighbourhood. If anyone knows the ad or name of cat; It may have been a situation where person was moving in with someone and the other person did not want a cat there for some reason.
Nov. 29- 2 Photos detailing how trap door was jammed incidence.
Photos of trap outdoors and indoors with my always indoor Cat Luke the Duke.
NOV. 27 9:30 PM- The limping cat triggered trap at 9:30 PM then as I put my shoes on I could hear cat struggling trying to get out and when I got to trap under chairs kitty pushed his head out the latch and was stuck with trap door on kitties neck. I got the door unstuck but that allowed kitty to run off. If I had not been there to free kitty he would have been strangled. I will stay up for awhile to see if kitty triggers it again then I am going to close trap while I sleep which may not be for awhile due to trap incidence. Glad it was while I was able to help kitty.
I had set trap for warmth with trap on top of carboard wrapped in plastic and some towels wrapped in plastic inside trap. See added photos.
NOV. 27- 2 PEOPLE CONTACTED ME ABOUT AD WANTING CAT IF IT IS AVAILABLE.
Nov. 27- CAT DID NOT HISS OR GROWL AND SEEMED RECEPTIVE TO COMING CLOSE.
Set trap for GREY & BLACK TABBY WHITE CHIN FOUND INJURED LEFT REAR LEG(other kijiji ad) and did not see limping cat but caught this Main Coon Cat at 1 AM Nov. 27, 2022.
Also saw new Brown & Black Tabby, not the limping cat, but this cat did not enter trap.
Could not see what sex it was.
Ambivalent regarding letting go or getting it checked out so I let it go.
Comes around back of seniors residence next to Freshco on Tecumseh Rd. East at Rivard Avenue.

February 24, 2023- Teddy not for rehoming or adoption.
July 12, 2022- Teddy lays down against apartment door(not patio door) perhaps as behaviour from previous home; Other behaviour indicates He was raised by humans indoors and indoor pet for entire life. Still no white whisker regrowth yet all other health good.
June 22- White whisker still not re-growing; health normal. Playful and zoomy occasionally climbing curtain and looking at me meowing for attention(lol) which I then unstick him from curtain & he continues to romp about. Likes to snuggle on sofa and bed next to head.
May 14- Teddy's 4th birthday today (approx. 4 years old) 6 months since he chose my patio & 4 months indoors. VIDEO 1- Winnie & Teddy being brushed this morning 6:47 long: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHNWrsDjV58&list=PL2XgVSuFlTffmnKIfSjEZd9Aw6Qz-4bCH&index=89 VIDEO 2- Teddy talks 1:06 long: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2d4Dt1Y8PpI&list=PL2XgVSuFlTffmnKIfSjEZd9Aw6Qz-4bCH&index=90 Elusive white whisker still not re-growing.
May 10- Have good conversations with him when cam not rolling; will keep trying to get his distinct meows on cam. Teddy & The Magic Human Litter Box; 1:23 minute youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIlS7bZmPgQ&list=PL2XgVSuFlTffmnKIfSjEZd9Aw6Qz-4bCH&index=88
May 2- White Whisker yet to start growing back; Always does the great stuff including vocals when camera not on him so I just take photos and make a video as in this one: 1 minute 30 sec. long, Teddy & Friends In April https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtlRhW8A1k8&list=PL2XgVSuFlTffmnKIfSjEZd9Aw6Qz-4bCH&index=87
April 7- Posted 3 new photos that show coat colour variation depending on lighting. Still no progress on white whisker regrowth. He likes to engage other cats in good cat play except Luke whom only plays with Tuffy. The female cats will engage him especially Tuffy the 1 year old. He tried to mate with Winnie 8 year old female both neuter/spay just holds her then lets go; Cat romance is in the air, lol; not funny for kitten season outdoors.
March 29- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0eX_5L4O_U&list=PL2XgVSuFlTffmnKIfSjEZd9Aw6Qz-4bCH&index=84 YouTube link to 2:40 video of photos, Teddy & Friends March 2020. Thumbnail has his white whisker which has not begun to grow back yet; still 100% Teddy with his unique crooked tail tip not visible and unique Tedder meows, snuggles sitting on shoulders, hunting movement under the blankets, helping making the bed and sleeping in bed : )
March 22- Photo's taken today without his white whisker with better lighting; he had a bad fur day yesterday lol. No just kidding it was lighting and bad picture.
March 21- 2 Photo's of him without his white whisker posted in pictures. Weight is 12 lbs gaining 2 lbs from when first brought inside. Having tapeworm cost him some weight as well as being outdoors in 2021. Fur has become thinner, longer & healthier inside due to daily brushes and combing which he expects in morning and takes any time of day. His fur was denser and shorter when he was outside in December in cold and for a few weeks inside. Human hair Comb removes excess fur better than brush & brush is good for loosening fur and massaging skin. Will post photo collage at end of March
March 16- Monitoring for any further relapse of tapeworm and so far showing no signs of parasites. Showing more of his personality with other cats in engaging them in play and with humans as well as finding His sitting, sleeping and bird watching spots. White whisker has not begun to grow back.
March 1- Teddy's white whisker fell out; it will grow back. All cats becoming more accepting of him inside.
Feb. 21- Tends to make loud screeching mreowow noise if another cat namely Luke jumps on him or when Tuffy plays with him. The noise he makes sounds worse than actual interaction warrants so it is likely an autonomic response. He is stimulated by other cats playing and running and sometimes gives chase to them but is not aggressive. Teddy wants to play and engage the other cats but they are still hesitant except for Tuffy; Except for Luke whom tends to express his alpha dominance on all cats in house but not violent attacks on cats except for Tuffy whom He has bonded with as playmate, cuddle and groom. All normal behaviours for cats. Tough being new cat on the block.
Feb. 10- Tapeworm Teddy all clear this morning no proglottid’s( each segment in the strobila of a tapeworm, containing a complete mature reproductive system) crawling from his butt or those nasty tapeworm egg sacs stuck to his rump fur. Cleaning continued today to ensure no eggs or egg sacs left on anything in apartment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsH5sRbIzsk&list=PL2XgVSuFlTffmnKIfSjEZd9Aw6Qz-4bCH&index=73 ,video of living tapeworm segment that came out of Teddy’s butt. Continuing NaturPet IntestiCare with food grade diatomaceous earth with pate every day.
Feb. 8 to 9- Had 1/4 inch tapeworms on rump fur which were crawling out from anus. Treated with Fido's All Wormer Tablets for Dogs, Cats, Kittens and Puppies. Had solid stool with watery substance and next day no mare tapeworms on rump fur or crawling out of anus.
Feb. 6- Putting sheets on bed is play time for Teddy.
Feb. 5- He is not aggressive to female spay cats & has been sniffing around Winnie with some grooming. Also grooming human hair and some licks on nose too.
Feb. 3- Teddy is engaging other cats in friendly ways in wanting to sit, play and groom; sniffing noses. Gave Petey some grooms today Petey is slow to warm up but getting more accustomed to him. Winnie has best relationship so far. Luke and Tuffy are bonded and Luke tends to dominate all cats including Teddy. Teddy just keeps away from him and not aggressive to other cats.
Jan. 26- Engages other cats in good ways in sitting, eating & playing with them. Sits & sleeps on lap; likes to sit next you on floor, bed & chair. Makes great computer assistant. His love bug behaviour indicates he received some human love; can kiss on top of head and nose the more he gets accustomed to you.
Jan. 24- Settled in and loves to play with toys attached to strings or bungee and other toys including by himself. Tries to engage other cats in sitting with them and in play but they are still hesitant to play and just beginning to let him sit near him.
Jan. 22- Has different meows depending on what he wants or feels. Soft meow when wanting affection. Allows hugs. Loves having tent set up on sofa or chair to sleep under. Ate some peanut butter from my bagel, lol. He obviously had indoor home; when humans eating he expects food from them and to lick bowls. Winnie 8 year old black female has been warming up to him; she has a friendly personality. Other cats a little slower except Luke whom is alpha to all other cats only Tuffy 1 year old female is Luke's buddy. I interact with them when they interact with each other and are close with petting and toys.
Jan. 20- Allowed a kiss on top of nose approached from the front.
Jan. 19- Teddy ( Theodore White Whisker, formerly & occasionally still called Mr. White Whisker)Feeding intesticare with wet breakfast. Occasional watery eyes allows to clean but still wiggly worm for that. Likes being picked up and with front paws on shoulder especially to look outside. Super friendly and playful with toys; will engage hands gently with play. Bonkers in the tunnel ball attached to it; see video.
Jan. 14- Has had continuous watery eyes yesterday and today had some goo on eyes. Cleaned and administered eye cleanse and vetericyn anti microbial gel. 8 AM. 4 PM repeated eye rinse and vetericyn. Giving IntestiCare in canned food.
Update Jan. 13- Teddy (Theodore White Whisker) will be name using for him unless he responds or shows preference to some other phonetic structure. Teddy appears to suit his personality as he is a cuddly friendly teddy bear. Has been more playful with toys, tunnels, box, people and cats. Relaxing more at window. Lap cat now allowing to be picked up and cuddled and stays on lap for naps.
Update Jan. 9- Is gregarious playing with all forms of toys he is engaged with and ones he pulls from toy pile or box. Likes toys attached to string and wand, balls all other cat toys and cat tunnel with ball on it. More playful after a couple of weeks as he is more comfortable inside. His ear clip has a piece of skin hanging from it, looks like a double cut; it will fall off within a week. Tries to engage other cats just to sit with them getting more comfortable with them they him; Luke has been chasing him occasionally grasping him with paw and he does not hiss, swat or attack back. Luke does it to other cats in house too.
Update Jan. 7- Got on bed and slept next to my chest for awhile for first time; definitely has been an indoor cat as all behaviour indicates.
Update Jan. 6- He has the most timid disposition of any cat I have known. Other cats hiss at him he does not hiss back; Luke chased him and he just runs off. No growling, hissing, swatting or stalking; very vocal in meowing. Administered eye drops and he squirmed but did not scratch, bite, hiss or growl and afterwards when I let him go he just sat beside me and I petted him.
Will sit on lap if you pick him up and place him there or go there by himself.
Update Jan. 5- He enjoys sitting on your lap. While standing and walking on lap I was able to hug him. Vocalizes when wanting attention. Vocalizes at door too and if you pet him he will prefer that and stop vocalizing. Looks to engage my cats but not aggressive; my cats will take a little longer as usual. I have picked him up and placed him on sofa where other cats are and petted him. Luke has tried to play with him but he just runs away.
Update Jan. 4- Slept for most of night did n -

*************When trapping always immediately check if cat is female and may have had kittens including feral ear tipped cats.********** Due to trap incidence I was able to get better look at his colour and it is Reddish brown just looks grey at night; unfortunately could not get photo due to incident with trap. Still limping.
Had a cat about 8 years ago that had a rear leg strain and could not put weight on it and and the vet said it would heal on it's own within a couple weeks which did occur; hopefully that is the case with this kitty.
January 21- Have not seen this kitty since Nov. 27.
December 26- Have not seen this kitty since trap incident. Still may be coming around while I am asleep.
December 23- Merry Christmas; Photo added of cat at Humane Society with similar colour as limping kitty. Cannot confirm if it is the limping kitty.
Nov. 30- Clarity on the trap: I watched kitty from screen door go into trap and the trap closed then kitty began thrashing inside trap to escape and when I got back to door kitty managed to push his head outside and was stuck like that.
Nov. 27- Limping Tabby did not come around that I know of usually was here about 8PM or later. Could be due to other cats or other reasons.
Set trap last night but caught a Friendly Majestic Main Coon Cat Black and Brown instead at 1 AM. and noticed another Brown and Black Tabby coming around but would not go into trap. Will set up kijiji ad for Maine Coon and Tabby today with pictures.
Nov. 26- Noticed cat limping yesterday.
Have not seen cat here since this past week.
Cat does not put any weight on rear left leg but carries it underneath and is skittish.
Came out from under cars when cat saw me bringing food out but waited until I went back inside.
This is not my cat.
Pictures are best I could get and will upload video.
Ate full dish of turkey and 156 gram can of chicken liver pate plus some kibble at 8 PM 25/11/22.

Kitty's colour looks like grey with white, brown and black tabby markings. Hard to determine at night.
January 21- Comes around at night but do not always while I am awake.
December 28- NEW NO GLARE close up video; 5:30 into video & several times after, cannot determine if it is upper canines or the upper incisors that are next to upper canines. Set video speed to .25 for best viewing.
My monitor is only 720p resolution and 14 inch monitor, so a 4k big screen would be better to view.
On the good side this chonky kitty appears healthy. Loves not spiced turkey, chicken, beef and their broths.
Glare from previous video's caused by camera light reflecting off both patio and plate.Other videos of this kitty still viewable on Youtube Channel.
December 27- 2 New close up video of kitty eating to see if kitty has upper canines. Video 2 is 10 minutes long and need to go to Youtube page," BROWN AND BLACK TABBY", to view.
December 25- I was contacted by someone that believes it may their kitty. They stated, " If it's Dennybean, she will come to one hand clapping (on thigh) if you crouch. I'm very sure it's her. She's been missing since July. She is missing her upper canines and is microchipped".
Anyone within this area with contact with her can check or catch her could check for that.
This kitty had not been around for a couple days prior to tonight probably due to weather and food left out what still there in the morning. Merry Christmas.December 21- Kitty comes by after 9:30 to 10 PM every night to eat occasionally comes back in morning between 4 AM and 6 AM.
DECEMBER 6- NEW VIDEO 4K-Video with Light 3:00 into Video Cat Is under light. Only had smartphone camera light as kitty is accustomed to it.
Dec. 1-NEW VIDEO; had a 20 minute livestream of this kitty come in for some nom noms at 9:30 PM. Ate wet food, Friskies treats at end of video next to camera & no spices turkey broth. I edited the video down to 12 minutes on new video in post; was Youtube livestream so it is only 1080p.
*************When trapping always immediately check if cat is female and may have had kittens including feral ear tipped cats.**********
Nov. 30 - Clarity on the trap: I watched kitty from screen door go into trap and the trap closed then kitty began thrashing inside trap to escape and when I got back to door kitty managed to push his head outside and was stuck like that.Nov. 29- 2 Photos detailing how trap door was jammed incidence. Cat sat on patio like in main picture while put food out. Was cautious and would not enter trap which had food in it. Ate the food I put on a plate outside the trap as I am not trying to catch this cat but an injured one that has been coming around.
Nov. 27- Cat would not enter trap I set for another cat which FRIENDLY MAJESTIC MAINE COON CAT was CAUGHT IN TRAP ; I had to release as priority on another cat injured.
Not the same as GREY & BLACK TABBY WHITE CHIN FOUND INJURED LEFT REAR LEG that I set trap for.

Hi everyone
Yesterday my son’s bird ( her name is Roby) flew from the cage and went out. The bird is very friendly and used to sit on people’s shoulders or hand to eat or sit. Please if any one catches her please call me back at 226-260-6998. By the way, we live at Turner road near Costco. Thank you

Kitty's colour looks like grey with white, brown and black tabby markings. Hard to determine at night.
January 21- Comes around at night but do not always while I am awake.
