Accompany a retired vertebrate paleontology grad student on prospecting foray(s) into Alberta's badlands to photograph and geotag potentially collectible scientific specimens for the U of A, during the summer months of May-Sept. Details such as transportation and equipment to be determined. Enthusiastic novices and amateurs welcome. Expenses such as gas would be reduced by achieving a critical mass of individuals and vehicles. Anyone have a van with seats or a small sedan? I have a driver's license only. Please be advised that this is not a treasure hunt, or a leisurely holiday with baths, restaurants, and all modern conveniences, but more like a busman's holiday with the aim of accomplishing a goal. The approximate distance driven would be 310 miles round-trip, or less depending on specific destination.
If you could, it would aid in planning a Meet-Up for this if you provided the following in your reply. Copy and alter this Q&A of mine as a template if you like, and return it to me:
What is your age and approximate physical condition, and ability or willingness to tolerate possible infrared, ultraviolet and insects?
(I'm 70; in reasonable shape for climbing and hiking; no preexisting conditions; reasonably good eyesight, prepared for heat, sunburn and bugs.)What hours or days of the week might you be available due to employment or other responsibilities?
(I'm retired, prepared to go anytime, weekends or weekdays, with proper notice.)How long would you be interested in going out for at a time?
(Full daylight plus driving time, or overnight camping.)What resources are available to you?
(Bottled water, specimen zip-bags, baseball caps, pens and post-its for everyone; 6 day-packs, face masks and bandanas; Magellan handheld GPS; two 22-channel walkie-talkies; Android cell phone (WiFi only) with apps (HandyGPS (free) and manual (https://www.binaryearth.net/HandyGPSHelp/quickstartguide.html)) for independent/direct satellite GPS, and GPS camera; digital pocket camera; sturdy one-piece steel dinner knife; two Ruper 16X hand-lens/loupes; flagging tape; toilet paper; AA batteries; granola bars; driver's license.)What neighbourhood and/or city do you live in (address optional)?
(I live in the Newton neighbourhood of Edmonton, bsmt-12030 56 St.)What do you already know related to the subject?
(I was a vertebrate paleontology graduate student, and have lots of field experience in Alberta and elsewhere.)What financial situation are you in, in terms of what expenses you can afford to share?
(I live on basic government pension, but can afford to share gas.)Would you be willing to do this for science and respect the intent of the Alberta's Historical Resources Act?
(Yes)I acknowledge that I am legally responsible for my own safety.
(Yes)What is your COVID vaccination status? Are you willing to let your fellow travellers know your vaccine status?
(I have had five shots of mRNA COVID vaccine, and believe I've had COVID on Mar 11/2020 and in Feb/2022, and possibly 3 other times. I am willing to travel with others to the prospecting site, regardless of their vaccine status. I am willing to wear a mask during the trip.)Would you be willing to meet at a public place like a mall food court in advance, to plan an outing?
(Yes)Would you be willing to be contacted as part of a group e-mail by cc, which would reveal your email address to others in the group? Privacy shouldn't be a problem with Kijiji-account e-mail addresses. Would you be willing to share your address later to arrange an efficient pick-up plan, or travel, possibly by ETS, to a common pick-up/muster point.
(Yes)What other expectations or questions might you have?
(Above.)Even for pros, success is not guaranteed, especially on one day trip, but you will probably learn something. Exercise, nature and possibly fun are also bonuses. Dry weather is essential.

Monday, January 13th
Noon to 5pmLocation: Where Faeries Live
7933-104 Street NW
Edmonton, ABJoin us at Where Faeries Live for a new tradition: our Full Moon Community Altar!
We'll set up the altar in Pink's Parlor. You're welcome to bring your own candle, or buy one in-store, to light on the altar.
Or, for a small fee, we can carve, dress, and light the candle for you.
If you can't make it into the store on December 15th, you can pre-order your carved and dressed candle here on EventBrite! You'll have your choice of candle colour and dressing oil in the checkout section, along with space to note down your intention for this candle. We'll take care of the rest.
We offer dressed chime candles (approx 30min burn time) or dressed 7in taper candles (approx 7-hour burn time) in a range of colours. We also have a variety of single-note essential oils and WFL-exclusive oil blends we can use to dress your candle.
The intention behind the candle is all up to you. But if you're stuck for ideas, consider this list of correspondences for the Harvest Moon, quoted from Moon Magick by D.J. Conway (Chapter 4, page 21-22)
Nature Spirits: gnomes, brownies
Herbs: marjoram, holly thistle, nuts and cones
Colors: brilliant white, blue-violet, black
Flowers: snowdrop, crocus
Scents: musk, mimosa
Stones: garnet, onyx, jet, chrysoprase
Trees: birch
Animals: fox, coyote
Birds: pheasant, blue jay
Deities: Freyja, Inanna, Sarasvati, Hera, Ch'ang-O, Sinn
Power Flow: sluggish, below the surface; beginning and conceiving. Protection, reversing spells. Conserving energy by working on personal problems that involve no one else. Getting your various bodies to work smoothly together for the same goals.
(Please note: these correspondences are not meant to limit your intentions for this month's candle. You can choose any intention for your candle that you desire. These are just suggestions for related elements you can add to your intention, or ideas to help you choose an intenton for this Full Moon.)All who visit us in-store to add their candles to the altar are welcome to stay in Pink's Parlor and meditate if desired. We'll have chairs and meditation cushions available.

LEARN HOW TO LIVE OFF GRID They cannot control people that can live a self-sustaining life and know how to take care themselves and their every day needs. This is why they do not teach the basic survival skills at school. They teach you how to depend on the system. Individualism is discouraged.
Come for a day or. camping spots available. This is NOT A CULT. We are looking for people that want to learn how to live a self-sustaining life. We will be doing gardening, picking berries, making cheese, canning, raising and mingling with all the animals, working with horses, milking a cow, help building different buildings-shelters and just about anything else you can dream; including camp fires, nature walks through the forest, gold panning and many other great experiences. Overall having a good time while enjoying learn what life is really about. We have people here that will show how to do many different things related to a self sustaining life style. It would be fantastic to have someone taking videos of all the fun and action, maybe make a short movie. We also need help in getting a Bentwheel Homestead page going. All we ask in return is to help out on different projects. We are looking for people that are interested in getting a self sufficient pioneer life style farm going, and raising all our own animals, and vegetables and reap the rewards. No experience necessary, since we can teach you. We are fully experienced and have 300 acres to this on. What ever your interests you can do and learn anything you want from building shelters to growing and preserving all types of food etc. in this old time self sufficient setting. Everybody has an opportunity to develop their own skills and talents. This is an opportunity that will grow into a way of life for you. We have a lot of experience to offer people that want to learn, as this is the way we live year around. Even if you want to be a weekender and learn and do things related to this life style. It costs nothing to talk. Camping spots are always available. We are going to start up the garden now, and the are plots to do your own thing. The crux of it all it is all about life and self sustaining living skills. They have to be acquired by real life experience. I am going to do an experiment in planting potatoes seeds versus planting seed potatoes. Currently we are making lots of kefir and kombacha right now. Also we got a pich, clay oven for the best coking ever. Please contact me if you are interested and we can work out some sort of deal to suit all situations. Cheers, To often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, a honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring; all which have the power to turn a life around.

I’m a straight (married) male looking for a workout partner 3 - 5 times a week at the Twilliger Recreation Centre. My membership allows me to have a companion join me in working out (Weight lifting, swimming, steam room and maybe some badminton). I would need a ride to and from the recreation centre 3 KM away). Your admission would be free as you would be my escort. I would also compensate you by covering a healthy meal after our workout. I’m not a certified trainer, but have been working out most of my life and know the basics. I would count on you to show up as committed workout partner and thrive to meet out fitness goals.

Hi .. I know this is a unusual request... however... I need to ask. I am looking for a FREE small piece of land where I can park a camper on and live in it for a time. This year has presented me with major health issues and things have been changing quickly. I made decisions years ago that would and have resulted me in the situation that I am in now. I chose to not do anything to my body.. my hope is that I came with and would like to leave with.. not adding or taking away anything. When confronted with health issues I chose to do nothing.. last year things finally started to affect me and this year I am sort of falling apart physically. I am not sharing this for sympathy.. some say that I am brutally honest. I am just informing you of where I am coming from. I am hoping to find that peaceful place to spend my last amount of time. You would of course have your little piece of land back after I pass away. I would really love to find some where near Spruce Grove Alberta as I have children and grandchildren there. Please contact me if you would please consider my request. Thank you.. David

Hi, I'm looking for some nice people who would like to chat either online or in person. I'm just looking for friends not more than that I like going for walks, coffee, hanging out @ a park or home and just talking about whatever. I'm easygoing, nonjudgmental. I like going to the various festivals in town or other interesting events in town. I like following current affairs through print or through televised/online mediums. I also like watching various sports. I would be interested in learning about potentially fun activities or groups in town. Please message me if you can type a few sentences. I won't respond to one liners or "Interested, please contact me." I had many of those replies in the past and they were just time wasters. Thank you.
