Valley Community Learning Association (VCLA) is offering a free computer course every semester. Semesters run from September to February, and from February to June.
This course is intended for those with relatively low computer skills.
There is no need for a computer; there is a computer for every student in the classroom.Classes run Mondays and Wednesdays from 11 am to 2 pm.
Additional hours are available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for practice, help, projects, or questions.Additional information: small classes, one-on-one help, very hands-on, using Windows 10, all major topics covered (Windows, email, hardware, file system, browsers, the web, office applications, etc.)
Lunch is provided at no cost for those interested.
Serious and committed candidates only, please. Attendance is very important.
There are a limited number of seats available. A cohort with similar skill levels will be selected from the available candidates. The students will be selected based on a first-come, first-served basis, so the sooner you call to register the better.
Intakes take place the week before the course starts. These are individual, short, in-person meetings with the instructor.
The course takes place at 118 Oakdene Avenue, in Kentville.
Email any questions to InfoTech.VCLA@gmail.com

David Francey is a Scottish-born Canadian carpenter-turned-songwriter, who has become known as "one of Canada's most revered folk poets and singers" (Toronto Star). Born in Ayrshire, Scotland to parents who were factory workers, he moved to Canada when he was twelve. For decades, he worked across Canada in rail yards, construction sites, and in the Yukon bush, all the while writing poetry, setting it to melodies in his head and singing it to himself as he worked.A truly authentic folk singer, Francey is a documentarian of the working person who never imagined earning a living from his music. But when he was in his 40s, his wife, artist Beth Girdler, encouraged him to share his songs and sing in public. The reaction was instant. His first album Torn Screen Door came out in 1999 and was a hit in Canada. Since then, he has released eleven albums, won three Juno Awards and has had his songs covered by such artists as The Del McCoury Band, The Rankin Family, James Keelaghan and Tracy Grammer.

Imagine yourself comfortably nestled among the elders, Pine and Hemlock. Allowing yourself to be completely immersed & deeply nourished in healing sound vibrations resonating from the singing bowls & other sound instruments.
Upon arrival you are invited to take a leisurely stroll around the property, making a connection to the trees and land. A short sharing circle on how coming home to nature is coming home to ourselves. An offering of prayer ties will be made and placed on the property helping us to further connect to the land and trees. We will then relax into a blissful hour of soundscape. This will be followed up by a natural facial mist to refresh and ground. The circle will close with a sea of Ohms. Afterwards you are free to once again enjoy the trees and property or visit Ali,s sweet shop to have a look around at her homemade products.

Are you an experienced, COVID-responsible musician, wishing you could play, but frustrated by the risks of indoor crowds & poor ventilation? Me too. Summer's coming. Could we put something together with the intention to play festivals & other outdoor/well-ventilated gigs? I don't have all the answers, but I do know that playing is in my blood. Message me if you can identify with this. Let's talk.
(Rock/Classic Rock only)
