This summer, the Vancouver Police Museum & Archives is unlocking its doors for an exclusive event. Dark Science - Summerween Session is an after-hours interactive exploration of forensic sciences, true crime, and summertime Halloween.
With special guest, prestigious BC Coroner Laura Yazedjian who will be presenting a deep-dive exploration into the infamous Salish Sea severed feet case.
This isn’t your average event. It’s an interactive, 2.5-hour plunge into the gritty reality of modern forensics, hosted by museum staff and real experts, in the city's most authentic, macabre setting.

Indian Summer Festival presents its 16th annual celebration of South Asian arts with a lineup of evocative mixed programming—including comedy, live music, theatre, literature, and interdisciplinary exchange, from July 9–19, 2026 at various venues across Vancouver, Burnaby, and Surrey. The festival's 2026 theme, Ragas for a Ruptured World, is a call to artistic expression, creative defiance, and collective meaning in an increasingly fractured world. From July 17–26, 2026, the Eastside Arts Society will present an expanded 6th edition of the Eastside Arts Festival, bringing together local artists and audiences across the Eastside Arts District neighbourhoods, parks, studios, and breweries. A district-wide celebration of the artists, cultural spaces, and creative communities that shape Vancouver’s Eastside, this year’s festival invites people to experience the district in hands-on and unexpected ways through soundwalks, artist-led workshops, public art tours, immersive performances, and live music. On July 25, the festival will host its annual free, outdoor concert, at MacLean Park from 3:00-8:00 pm, in collaboration with the Rickshaw Theatre, and presented by the Strathcona BIA. The festival will also co-present two events: The popular outdoor summer series, The Dance Deck, in partnership with Belle Spirale Dance Projects (July 18, 19, 25 & 26), and an afternoon of free music at MacLean Park, in partnership with MacLean Park Music (July 26). Raised in the wilds of Vancouver Island, 26-year-old Elysia Biro (pronounced Eh-lee-sha Bee-row) is a technically gifted singer, songwriter, and pianist. A student of classical piano at age 4, Biro began writing her own music at 13 while teaching herself how to play jazz by ear after being inspired by the genre’s improvisational free form. After receiving her diploma in classical piano from the Royal Conservatory of Toronto and graduating high school at age 16, Biro earned her Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies for piano and voice before moving to England to complete her Master’s of Music degree at the University of York.
Crafting her unique sound from an expansive fusion of genres, Elysia Biro’s songwriting blends modern pop form and classical technique with jazz sensibilities. An expressive and introspective songwriter, her warm, soulful vocals reflect her journey through self-discovery, love, and introspection, painting a compelling portrait of life as she knows it right now, blossoming between seasons. Biro has quickly amassed a dedicated audience on social media through her captivating vocals and virtuosic transcriptions of jazz solos. Texas-based five-time GRAMMY-winning guitarist, composer, producer, and instructor Mark Lettieri is one of modern groove music’s defining voices. Best known as a longtime member of the genre-blurring collective Snarky Puppy, as well as a founding member of The Fearless Flyers alongside Cory Wong, Lettieri has built an international reputation as a session musician proficient in a multitude of styles. He has recorded and performed in virtually every genre of popular music with both independent and major-label artists, ranging from Erykah Badu to David Crosby. With the Mark Lettieri Group, he channels instrumental funk, jazz fusion, and R&B into tightly arranged, groove-forward compositions reminiscent of The Meters, John Scofield, and Herbie Hancock’s Headhunters era. The new all-star trio of premier banjoist Béla Fleck, harpist Edmar Castañeda, and drummer Antonio Sánchez features instrumentation that one might call unusual, unless you’re familiar with 19-time GRAMMY winner and 39-time nominee Fleck: the genre-blurring virtuoso who has expanded the possibilities of the banjo more than anyone in history. Guest curated by Luis Manuel González, Adjunct Professor in UBC Department of Anthropology, the bilingual (English and Spanish) exhibition offers a glimpse into Andean cosmovision–a holistic and spiritual framework that explains the structure of the universe–through an exploration of MOA’s collection of ancient Andean artifacts.
