Maddy
Mid 20’s grade apha mare 15hh
Very well broke with a reining foundation but only suitable for light riding walk, trot.
We have put confident beginners and up on her. She has been great for teaching younger riders the basics. Light enough to ride in a halter if you want to.
We have used her for beginner lessons, trail rides, leadline rides, and kids camps.
We have mostly retired Maddy. She has only had one ride on her in the last 6 months. She is the kind you can let sit for a few months without worry.
She is about middle/ high in the herd pecking order
Good to trim. We haven’t shod her as we work on soft ground.
She does crib, and was diagnosed with cushings at her previous home. We have been managing her cushings without medication. She is out on pasture with no issues and no signs of laminitis, and she is holding her weight really well.
We are open to purchase options to find Maddy an amazing semi retirement home. Free off property lease, purchase by donation, or trade.

We know nothing about her as she was a resuce.
Possibly bred to a bay dun stud
We assume she is around 3-5 years old give or take but not 100% sure as I haven’t been able to check her teeth but she is the daughter of one of the other mares we rescued and she is around 6-7.
Not halter broke or would need a refresher.
She needs to have an experience handler who is willing to train her as she needs a lot of training.
We are thinking she is a quarter horse or a quarter horse mix.

Catty was purchased as a weanling and is from Lone Star Quarter Horses and is your epitome of a ranch horse. Straight legs, bold and friendly, takes everything in stride. Really likes her people. 3 year old currently standing 14.3. We expect her to mature about 15.2hh.

She has no mean bone in her body, is exceptionally good for children to handle, but she is a very forward hot little mare, loves to go and cover ground! Decided to open some time up to take a few training horses under my wing again.
Specialize in problem horses including restarts, alley issues, desensitization, miles.
Have extensive experience in restarting abused rescue horses, restarts on problem horses, problem solving alley and box issues, and am always open to putting miles or getting horses back in shape.
Some restart horses below in the videos, couldn’t put a saddle on the first one when I got him in. Second wouldn’t run a barrel pattern without blowing up in the alley or on the pattern. Both successfully being ridden now by owners.
I keep my prices affordable so that people can help the horses that get over looked.

Merlin is a 5yo registered Friesian cross gelding. Approx 15.3hh.
He is 3/4’s Friesian - sire is full Friesian and dam is half Friesian, 1/2 a mix of Quarter Horse and Clysdale.Lovely puppy dog personality, sweet boy who loves attention and will always come up to greet you at the gate.
Lovely flashy movement typical of the Friesian type, three nice gates, Merlin would suit driving, dressage or pleasure.
Very kind, gentle, smart and sensitive horse. He is young and green, and needs someone to continue to build his confidence. He wants to please, but can be spooky when he is unsure.
Can lead, lunge, long-line, has been bridled and saddled. Is not broke to ride. Has been out of work for some months. Will need to be started by a competent trainer, not suitable as a ‘do-it-yourself’ starting project.
Good for farrier, trailers well, is up to date on everything including vaccinations, worming and teeth.
Merlin requires a calm, gentle, confident person who with excellent feel and timing. Someone he can build and bond with and trust.
I am struggling to find the time due to family and work commitments, so I am looking to re-home him to the right person.

Sammy, 15yo QH cross gelding.
Roughly 15hh, haven’t taped him but can if need be.
Has lived with other horses, donkeys, mini horses, and cows. Does well with everything, lowest in the herd. Gets along with everyone.
Used to dogs, tractors, and other equipment/machinery.
Selling him as a companion horse, but could easily be a riding prospect with time and consistency.
We’ve had him for 2 years and he’s been awesome. Great companion for my boy, i simply do not have the time for him.
Sammy deserves someone with time to love him and put the time in.
The good: Sammy is good on the ground. Halter broke. Leads. Backs. Lifts feet. Good for the farrier.
The bad: is very herdbound and can get stressed when he is taken out alone. Was told he his a hard loader, but have not done anything with him so not sure how that could go. Can be pushy on the ground but is easily corrected.
I have ridden him a few times and he’s done well. He acts up really bad when he’s taken out alone due to his herdbound issues. When i take him out with my guy he does awesome. Follows along no problem. Saddles well. Not cinchy. Thrown a couple beginners on him without a problem. Ride him in a bitless bridle and does great. Have ridden him bareback without an issue.
Just needs some consistent work to get him goin nicely.

He is truly a very smart boy and has a lot of potential. He just deserves more time than i can offer right now. My loss, your gain, will be sad to see him go.

SALE PENDING.
Registered Quarterhorse gelding. Seventeen years old, 17hh (no that’s not a typo!) Professionally started by Tarah Aiken as a five year old. He has all the buttons if you know how to ask for them. Duncan has done it all! He has been used for beginner riding lessons with children and adults. He has done many miles in the Chilcotin Mountains. He has done gymkhana and pony club too. He is a more whoa than go kind of guy but can surprise you with his speed and energy sometimes. Unfortunately Duncan was kicked in the chest by another horse a few years ago and it didn’t heal well. He now has a shortened stride which is noticeable at the trot. He is still sound enough for light riding.
He has always been kept up to date on his dental work, vaccinations, deworming and foot care. He does not have the best conformation so he has always received regular chiropractic adjustments. He baths, loads, ties, catches easy.

Benny is an 18 year old thoroughbred with a goofy puppy dog personality. Benny is looking to be someone's main mount that wants to ride and work him consistently. He has been used as a husband horse with us and realizing that is not the right fit for him. W/t/c like a dream he is very responsive in his cues. Great with farrier. Horse for sale. Venus is a 27 year old and 16.3 hand tall and still has quite a bit of go in her! Comes with a couple tonnes of hay, English saddle, halter, gear, feed..
She is a wonderfull girl and had never given me a problem. She is calm and hard to scare except when it come to dirt bikes.
She is and ex- dressage horse and is very beginner friendly. Can be hard to catch sometimes but most of the time will come right to you.
Unfortunately as a 14 year old I am struggling to afford her anymore and it is getting hard with schooling to give her the care she needs and deserves.
She is a wonderful girl and the best horse I could ask for. It really pains me to see her go but I can not give her the attention I would like to.
She is good bareback, western (she’s English so good luck neck reining, super responsive to your feet though) and English. She does have some sass but gets over it once you show her who’s boss. We use a bit less bridle
We respect her retirement with infrequent and gentle non demanding rides. If her back hurts she lets us know.
No issues health wise, teeth need floating but otherwise she’s healthy and up to date.
Ferriers well

Almost bulletproof old girl.

This past year I trusted the wrong person to take care of my horse while I was in a medical crisis that almost cost me my life. That person, who I thought was my friend, took advantage of my situation. She moved my horse just as I had a trailer lined up and resold her. She made up a bunch of supposed bills I owed her (long story) and used that as a way as leverage to sell her. In hindsight I should have moved her when I had to take care of my health in another city.
I owned this mare for 8 years, she is now 12 years old. She is a reg'd thoroughbred mare that is about 16hh and her barn name is Sadie. She does have a lip tattoo but it is hard to read. She is dark bay/brown with no white markings but does have a large scar on her left side on her ribs.
She was resold out of Dewberry Alberta. If anyone knows her whereabouts or how she is please contact me. I would love to have her back if possible. TIAShow less

Requires more consistent training and riding then I am unable to give. Needs more hours and would be an awesome horse.

Offering Horse Training. Miles, Tune Ups, Consignment Sales and Riding Lessons.
Program will be tailored to owner and horses needs/wants.
Programs include but not limited to:
-Arena work
-Miles out and about
-Exposure to cattle
-Barrel training, hauling, seasoning, condition.
-Hauling and seeing some sights.
-Behavioral issues (not interested in taking on broncs or dangerous horses)
-Bombproofing and getting your horse quiet.I focus on getting a foundation on a horse at what ever age. If this step is missed it can create issues regardless of what you may be doing with your horse. This includes getting them soft, a solid stop, working off your leg, quiet and confident, side pass and turn arounds, gaining control over every quadrant of your horse (Shoulders, Ribs, Hips) and more.
Lessons are currently being offered, however, I am only offering lessons to those that have horses of their own to ride. I also do Clinics for Horsemanship and Barrel Racing. $50/lesson.
Located Near Tilley but travel a lot of Southern Alberta.
I have plenty of experience and references.
$1000/Month - will do other plans just ask!
Consignment is $500/month and 10% of the horses selling price. This includes riding the horse so I know what I am selling, giving them a bit of a tune up if they have sat etc. Advertising and showing the horse to potential clients, this also includes hauling fees etc.
I am not interested in selling your bronc/dangerous/lame horse and giving the next guy a problem. If i do take them on, I will fully disclose everything.Please call or text to discuss any questions

Fidget is a sweet little guy, has a great personality. He is halter broke, ties and standes great. He is good with getting his hoofs trimmed, have never had any issues with him.
He’s been raised around and is good with kids and animals, horses, cats, dogs, goats, cows and chickens!

Alberta Family Horses is proudly breeding and raising Canadian registered Haflinger horses. We are the only Canadian registered breeder in Western Canada. Our foals are born on our acreage and are handled daily since birth.
We take great pride in our work and all our horses are in top condition, are up to date on their paperwork, vaccination, deworming and hoof care.

Haflinger horses have an easy going temperament and like to please. This makes them great all around family horses as they are strong enough to carry an adult guy in the mountains all day and quiet enough for kids to enjoy. They are often used for driving, therapeutic riding, lesson horse and/or trail horse. Did you know they also make good jumpers or dressage horses? Haflinger horses are by nature easy in their keeping, healthy and hardy horses with great strong feet. This makes them easy horses to have.
Beside sales Alberta family horses also offers their breeding stallions, Simba EGR, Mr. Maverick and Ashwin BTA to registered Haflinger mares in North America via live cover or fresh semen.

Done everything kids pony, any age can ride him, bare back or saddled up. Ride in the arena, does barrels, poles, can rope off him. Or ride him in the mountains all day and pack him with the big horses, cross creeks, mud bogs, you name it he’ll do it. Turned back cattle in the cutting pen. Been in the parade in town, nothing phases him.
W/T/L loves to run if you want to go fast too.
Lives with and gets along great with all animals, dogs, cats, goats, pigs, ducks, geese, chickens
Our kids have out grown him and are looking for new projects
Teeth floated last summer, UTD on 5 way and dewormer and feet done regularly. Stand great for the farrier.
