Position Summary
The Assistant Team Leader provides support to the Store Manager, Assistant-Manager and Team Leader in overseeing the daily retail store operations and in the absence of the Store Manager, Assistant-Manager and Team Leader, the Assistant Team Leader ensures that store opening/closing and asset management procedures are followed.
Key Accountabilities
The Assistant Team Leader is responsible for the following:- Managing the resources of the store to maximize results and store appearance while making sure to constantly have inventory on the shelves;
- Ensuring that employees work safely;
- Ensuring that company rules and regulations are explained, understood and followed by all team members;
- Operating a cash register;

GENERAL DUTIES:
You will be responsible to perform customer related investigations, including power quality problems, damage claims, high consumption and radio interference; spots customer service attachments; obtains easements; provides material lists for distribution service extensions and upgrading as per distribution engineering standards; responsible for the installation, testing and interrogation of single and polyphase revenue metering and distribution line and protection equipment; coordination/analysis of system load studies; conducts meter audits; provides technical direction to line crews and Distribution Field Representatives on distribution line design, distribution engineering standards and system problem solving; investigates and recommends modifications to correct system/customer voltage problems on distribution systems; updates distribution drawings; prepares job estimates for scope and cost and applies policy and procedure in the preparation of CIAC's and joint pole management documentation; corresponds with customers verbally and in writing regarding a wide range of policy and customer services related issues. All other duties related to or associated with this classification.
You will be responsible for personal safety and that of co-workers by observing and promoting the Corporation's Safety and Health Program. You are also responsible for any environmental aspects of the job and performing work in an environmentally responsible manner.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
You have graduated high school, successful completion of a two (2) or three (3) year electrical technology course from a recognized technical institute and either have completed the four (4) year training program established by the Corporation or have four (4) years experience as a technician in the discipline. Shall have a thorough knowledge of all regulations and safety rules. Must possess an appropriate valid driver's license.

Mechanical Maintenance A - Heavy Duty Repair

You will be responsible to repair, overhaul and maintain heavy equipment such as tractors, graders, loaders, heavy trucks, aerial devices, radial boom derricks, material handling aerial devices, diesel powered motor vehicles and tracked vehicles. You will also perform preventive or corrective maintenance on light duty vehicles and equipment including cars, pick-ups vans, snow machines, ATV's, gasoline/diesel powered tools, or diesel generators. You will be required to use diagnostic tools to diagnose electrical and mechanical problems on machines with electrical/electronic equipment and perform welding and acetylene functions, as well as all other duties related to or associated with this classification.
You are responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers by observing and promoting the company's Safety and Health Program and responsible for any environmental aspects of the job and performing work in an environmentally responsible manner.
You possess high school graduation supplemented by journeyperson graduation as a heavy duty repair mechanic and experience in acetylene and arc welding. Proficiency in aerial device maintenance in the utility industry is an asset. You shall have a thorough knowledge of all regulations and safety rules. Completion of training in WHIMS, Emergency First Aid, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Environmental Awareness and Confined Space Entry would be an asset. You must possess an appropriate valid driver's license.

Our Team
Our Newfoundland and Labrador Operations are an integrated mining, milling, and processing operation. Nickel concentrate from the fly-in, fly-out Voisey's Bay operation is shipped to our state-of-art Long Harbour Processing Plant where it is refined into low-carbon and high-purity nickel rounds, cobalt rounds and copper cathodes.
The Mine Maintenance department is responsible for the maintenance on all mobile equipment at the Voisey's Bay Mine Site. The department attends to a variety of surface and underground equipment including but not limited to Dozers, Excavators, Haul Trucks, Drills, Loaders, Jumbos, Bolters, LHD's, etc. Additionally, the department is responsible for supporting the entire light vehicle fleet including Pick-Up Trucks, Semis, Forklifts, and other equipment. The Mine Maintenance department is comprised of highly skilled Heavy Duty Equipment Technicians, Automotive Technicians, Truck and Transport Technicians, Welders, and Engineers.
The Opportunity
Vale recognizes the Impacts and Benefits Agreements with the Innu Nation and the Nunatsiavut Government in which Innu and Inuit workers have first preference for employment at the Voisey's Bay Mine Site. This is guided by an adjacency principle that first gives preference to those who live on the coast of Labrador, followed by those residing in the rest of Labrador, those residing on the island of the province, followed by the rest of Canada.
Next, priority will be given to Newfoundland and Labrador residents. We also welcome those who are willing to relocate back home and those looking to make NL their permanent home.
We are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician - Heacy Duty Equipment Technician (HDET) to join our Surface Mine Maintenance department in Voisey's Bay, NL. This is a permanent position.
This position is based at the Voisey's Bay mine site in Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation. This position is on a two week on, two week off rotation.
Reporting to the Mine Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician - HDET is responsible for repairing, troubleshooting, adjusting, overhauling, servicing, and maintaining mobile heavy-duty mining equipment. Additionally, in this position, you will:- Be a courageous safety leader willing to adhere to and sponsor the safety and environmental rules and procedures.
- Perform duties that range from routine preventative maintenance to repairing major breakdowns, including troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- Disassemble and reassemble components such as engines, transmissions, cooling systems, fuel and exhaust systems, breaks, clutches, differentials, hydraulics, electrical systems, and lubrication systems.
- Provide innovative solutions and best practices.
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair mobile off road mining equipment including haul trucks, graders, bulldozers, excavators, shovels, loaders, and other heavy equipment.
- Work on/with a variety of brands like CAT, Epiroc, MacLean, Sandvik, etc.
About You
Education:- College diploma in Heavy Duty Equipment Technician.
- Red Seal certification in the above trade is required.
Experience:- 5+ years Journeyperson experience in an industrial environment.
- Previous mining and/or heavy construction experience.
- SAP experience would be considered an asset.
- Experience with analyzing problems and determining safe, effective solutions.
Skills:- Ability to work alone or as a part of a team in a multi-discipline, multi-tasking field setting.
- Ability to work through troubleshooting charts and reading schematics.
- Strong ability to troubleshoot Heavy Duty hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and powertrains.
- Display strong communication skills – verbal and written.
- Innovation and ability to use initiative.
- Flexibility regarding work activities and type of work requirements.
