Hello,
My son will be 18 this summer and is still trying to earn his volunteer hours.
Full disclosure, he struggles with autism spectrum disorder so he is not as personable as people might like, but he means well.
He is good at following directions and can perform tasks such as lawn maintenance, pet feeding and walking, and probably a lot of things that I can't think of at this point.
We are hoping to hear from someone who actually needs help because of injury, time constraints (single parent for example), maybe age.
I'm not sure what else to say but if you feel like we can mutually help each other, please respond and we'll go from there.
Text or message, I seldom answer my phone.

YES Canada is seeking host families in the Renfrew County area to host international high school students from France and Italy for a 2 or 3 month program beginning in April 2021. Becoming a host family is a great way to experience another culture at home and to have a truly enriching experience.
International students plan their study abroad program months in advance and pursue the experience to learn about our culture and language and to build lifelong relationships with their host family and peers while attending high school. Students have been accepted to study at a local high school and continue to be committed to experience their study abroad opportunity and are aware that their program will take place amid a different environment in light of Covid-19.
We have adapted our programming to adjust to the new environment for students and host families presented by Covid-19. Guidance will be provided to students and host families throughout the process both prior to arrival and throughout the program and our team are available to answer questions and provide information. Students are also required to comply with all Government of Canada and Public Health requirements during Covid-19 including a 14-day quarantine upon arrival and testing both prior to departure and upon arrival in Canada.
We believe that purposeful travel is an important part of what connects and unites us, and the exchange program can continue to build a universal understanding and connection in these unique times. We know that the host family experience is key to providing an enriching cultural and language experience, and provides for a comforting home away from home to students embarking on this journey and builds lifelong bonds.
Why Host? As a host family, you can contribute to this experience for the student and also have your own rewarding experience. Not only do you and your family get to learn about a different culture, you also get to share yours!
We ask that host families provide 3 meals a day, a safe nurturing environment and welcome the student into your family’s daily lifestyle. Host families are compensated with a monthly stipend for doing so. If you are interested in sharing in this experience and hosting an international high school student or would like to learn more about our homestay program and how we are responding to the impacts of Covid-19, please contact YES Canada at the email address or phone number below:

The study aims to understand why migrants voluntarily decide to move to, stay and build their lives in small and mid-sized Canadian cities, so that we can enhance our understanding of migrants’ location choices, mobility patterns, and settlement following their arrival in Canada.
We are recruiting 20 participants to complete an online 5-minute survey on SurveyMonkey and of those 20, we will invite 10 people to participate in online 1-hour Zoom interviews. The survey can be accessed here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/whymigrantstay2. Your shared stories and insights will be valuable in informing policies to better respond to the needs of newcomers and local communities in small and mid-sized cities.
Participants completing BOTH the survey AND interview will receive a $15 Tim Hortons gift card.

VON Telephone Reassurance volunteers provide a daily telephone call (Monday to Friday) to a senior or adult with a disability to check in on their personal safety and well-being. Caregivers can have peace of mind knowing their loved ones are contacted with a scheduled call on an ongoing basis.
VON volunteers will need to go through the regular volunteer screening process, which includes filling out a Volunteer Application and providing a recent police check.

We are looking for people born between 1946-1965 to take part in a study of leisure, work, and life transitions. While many baby boomers have begun to retire, others are unable to retire or are choosing not to retire for a variety of reasons. If this sounds like you, we want to learn from you. As a participant in this study, you will be asked to participate in an online blog with others in your generation by sharing your experiences and perceptions of leisure, work, and your decision not to retire. Your participation would involve 4 sessions per year for three years, each of which is approximately two weeks. You will be asked to log on to the blog about 5 times in each session. You can create new posts and/or comment on the posts of others. If you volunteer to participate, you will be contacted by a researcher to help you set up an account and get comfortable navigating the blog. In appreciation for your time, you will receive a $50.00 gift card annually.
