“My son has been taking piano lessons from Chiyo for over 4 years. She is very kind, patient and finds music that he enjoys to learn and play. She always goes the extra mile by sending recordings of the songs when he is first learning them so he can listen to them while practising at home and organizing piano recitals at the end of the school year. I have never once had to persuade him to continue his piano lessons and he always goes willingly. After every listen, he always tells me the same thing "She is so kind!" - Agatha (mom of Gr. 7)
"Chiyo is a great piano teacher. She is very respectful and has a very calm demeanor which has worked really well for my children. My daughter started with Chiyo nearly 4 years ago and has advanced drastically loving playing the piano daily. I would highly recommend Chiyo to any parent who is looking for piano lessons for their children." - Irma (mom of Gr.9) -
“Chiyo is a first-rate piano teacher. My boys and I have been taking lessons with her on a weekly basis for more than two years now, and I am astounded by our progress! Chiyo strikes a good balance between different musical styles and between technical exercises and actual pieces. She keeps the lessons fun by moving on once we’ve learned enough from a given piece rather than insisting on absolute perfection. Her video-recorded Christmas recitals have been a source of motivation and a great way for friends and family to see what we’ve been up to. Her friendly demeanor and skillful instruction keep us coming back week after week.” — Geoff (dad of Gr. 7 and Gr. 5)
“Three of our kids have been having lessons from Chiyo for 3 years. Our kids practice piano lightly, like half an hour or less each day (only weekdays), and Chiyo is a really patient motivator enabling us to do so. As our kids always whine, finding reasons not to practice, it is almost a miracle that our kids reached the level that they can play the piano at an elementary school talent show, after a few years. When our kids practice, they are waiting for a moment to be recognized for their effort and Chiyo carefully senses it and provides rewarding words/feelings with her nice personality. Chiyo knows how difficult it is to bring consistency for daily practices, regardless of the learner's age. That is the reason why she picks music based on the learner's personality/learning intensity besides skill. If you were to look for a difference after six months, Chiyo would be the one to go for.” – Sho
"My time with Chiyo was a gift from my family and I could not have asked for a better teacher. Chiyo was excellent at adapting to my skill level. She quickly identified my weaknesses and was amazing at finding ways to walk me through correcting them. Her ability to effectively teach students from young children to mature adults is a testament to both her piano skills and her personality. I highly recommend her." - Rob

Hi there! I'm MusicMan Dan. Thanks for checking out the site! Here's a few basic facts about me to help you to get to know me better.
WHO ARE YOU, MUSICMAN DAN? I'm a 37-year-old musician and music teacher with a passion for teaching students how to play every instrument I know how to play! I love helping students to learn; it's a real pleasure to see students gain confidence and experience on their instruments. I have had other jobs, but once I started teaching, I knew it was what I wanted to set my heart towards professionally. WHY DO YOU TEACH MUSIC, MUSICMAN DAN? Well, that's an easy question to answer! I have been taught music by some pretty sketchy teachers, and I want to make sure students don't have sub-par teaching. I love it when a student comes to me unsure they can play a piece, or master some technique, and we master it. The joy in their faces is pretty awesome to see. Plus, I have had the experience of learning the hard way how NOT to play, and it's definitely a huge part of the focus of my teaching to teach people the PROPER and ERGONOMICALLY sound ways to play. Playing sloppily can lead to repetitive strain injuries to our wrists, to frustration when you just can't get a song down right, and to feeling like you can’t play your instrument correctly. I always tell students: YES YOU CAN. And I know how to help you! SO HOW DO YOU TEACH MUSIC, THEN? WHAT IS MUSICMAN DAN'S CORE TEACHING METHOD? Well, I have developed a series of lessons that guide students towards developing their skills in the most fundamentally sound and FUN way possible. Let me say that again for emphasis: LET'S HAVE FUN LEARNING MUSIC. Learning is a bore if you're not excited and having fun! I encourage students to bring their own goals to the lessons, and while I teach songs based upon their preferences, I also have a clear goal as to HOW to get those songs learnt QUICKLY and SAFELY. Most teachers just teach songs. Often they play during lessons. I rarely play; my focus is on YOU. And while I teach songs, I also teach theory, training drills, fun exercises, and have more than a few songs under my belt to work from a repertoire of songs to fit any students preferences. Whether you are a beginner, a novice, or an advanced musician, i'm SURE to have a few tricks up my sleeve to help you improve your skills. BUT MUSICMAN DAN, WHAT MAKES YOU ANY DIFFERENT THAN OTHER TEACHERS? I focus on ergonomics. I focus on FUN. I focus on keeping things laid back. I focus on techniques to help you learn as quickly as possible. I know my way around a fretboard, drumset, or a set of keys. I am both a teacher and a musician. I've had lessons in all the instruments I teach, and I have garnered a wealth of experience through teaching and through learning. It's about
connecting
the dots. Many teachers out there don't have GOALS and CLEARLY SET lesson plans. I DO. WHAT IS YOUR EXPERIENCE AS A MUSICIAN, MUSICMAN DAN? Glad you asked! I have played in several bands in Ottawa, and have played at venues such as Zaphod's, The Live Lounge, Brass Monkey, The Cajun Attic, Ritual and Greensfield Pub, just to name a few. I've played many gigs. I've hosted many a band party. I've spent many days jamming with bands. I've also released a record with the band Gingerfox (which is available on itunes), on which I played bass. I've recorded many a song. I've been in over 10 bands. WHAT EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE TEACHING MUSIC, MUSICMAN DAN? Oh, I've taught music all over Ottawa and for several different institutions. I've had over roughly 500 students in that time. I taught for 8 years at Eric's Academy of Music in Orleans. I opened the MusicMan Dan business in 2013. I taught group classes for the Ottawa Carleton District School Board. I have taught at Opus Academy in Orleans. I have taught half hour lessons, group lessons, and hour long lessons. SO IF YOU'RE SO GREAT, WHY WORK FOR YOURSELF? WHY NOT JOIN AN ACADEMY? I have found that one on one lessons, in the hour long format, have proven to be the most effective method of teaching students how to play music. I have found that academies are either too busy, too cramped, or too restrictive to ever really get MY style of teaching enough to really have students flourish in their environments. Why make yourself a number in a tiny little room with ten other people loudly playing all around you, when you can have PRIVATE lessons in a STUDIO where you can be as loud as you want and really spread out and get comfy? I also have customized guitar specific chairs and equipment that other academies cannot offer students. In academies, students often end up in lessons that are too short, while using sub-par amps, and sitting on uncomfortable fold out chairs. Where's the fun in that? SO TO SUM UP: Why choose anyone else? I consider my lessons to be an engaging and fun process that leaves me learning every day, too! Don't settle for less.

If you're looking to find out what the guitar can really do, and uncover some of the mysteries that may be holding you back from becoming the kind of player that you can truly be, perhaps I can be of service. I am offering private, comprehensive guitar and bass lessons. in the confort of your home. Online lessons, through Zoom, are also available when a meeting in person is not possible. These courses are available to anyone, whether you are a beginner who has never played before, or a more advanced player who wants to get some theoretical concepts in order, or learn new styles of playing. I welcome anyone to join me for an interesting, and, hopefully, inspiring hour lesson on an ongoing basis, where we cover all kinds of things together and you get instruction from an experienced guitarist and teacher who has been playing for decades, and can work with you and certainly provide you with the guidance and support that you need in order to reach your objectives as a player, all in an atmosphere of discovery and fun, because, after all, that's really what attracts people to the guitar, isn't it...it's fun! That's what attracted me, and the longer that I play, the more fun I have!
If you're interested, you're welcome to contact me, and I would be happy to provide you with more detailed information concerning my approach to teaching, and how the lessons work. In closing, I should also mention that, when necessary, I will supply a back-up video of the things that we're covering in our lessons as a bit of reinforcement, and for situations where we're learning a new piece of music or working on a new theoretical concept. That way you can actually play along with me as if we were together, even though we're not. More details on rates and scheduling always available; just send me a message.

David's musical training started at the age of 8, when he began attending St Michael's Choir School (SMCS) in Toronto. At St Michael's, David not only received extensive musical training in piano and singing, but also toured as a choirboy in Canada and internationally. His interest in a variety of musical styles inspired him to learn guitar, drums, and organ. He completed RCM grade 10 in piano and continued to earn a Bachelor of Music at Carleton University (CU) in 2013. Since then, David has been teaching students privately and with music schools throughout the GTA. He continues to perform in a variety of ensembles; David currently holds lead positions with the Etobicoke Centennial Choir and St John's United Church in Oakville.Daniella's musical journey began with violin lessons at the age of 3. She was an active choir and band member through high school and also studied piano, voice, flute, and viola privately. Daniella earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lawrence University (Appleton, Wisconsin, U.S.A.) in 2009 and has since sought additional vocal training through opera programs and private study in North America, Europe, and Israel. Since moving to Canada in 2017, Daniella has performed as both a soloist and professional ensemble lead in recital, choral, and operatic settings. She is currently a soloist at St John's United Church in Oakville, co-hosts The Art Song Podcast with Suzanne Yeo, and is a founding member of Opera Sustenida, a Toronto-based independent opera company making opera more relatable through innovative use of virtual and online platforms.

Teaching Philosophy:
I’m a very patient teacher and I love working with beginners. I usually use the Suzuki Method Books, and I also enjoy going through the RCM exam material for those students who are interested in getting certified. For intermediate - advanced students, we work on strengthening technique though scales and etudes (like Kreutzer, Schradieck, Trott Double Stops, Yost Shifting), and I assign pieces based on what I think the student needs. Every lesson is extremely personalized, and I pay attention to your needs/goals. :)I have taught a variety of students, from bright 3 year olds, to studious teenagers, to working adults who are in love with classical music! It has been absolutely wonderful getting to know my students over the years and I have been amazed at the progress that each individual can make. I have had students do things like play in their school talent show, join a community orchestra, host a home concert for their family, get accepted into a music CEGEP program, and even write their own music! What each student does with their new skills is entirely up to them and what matters to them. After all, the point of learning to play music is to express what we have in our hearts! (I know, super cheesy but you'll get used to it. I really love what I do).
Thanks for taking the time to read through all this, and I look forward to meeting you! ❁

Hi, my name is Sharon. I am a professional award winning piano and theory teacher. I have two diplomas, a Pianoforte-Performer and a Pianoforte-Teacher. I graduated from Western Ontario Conservatory of Music, which is now Conseravatory Canada. I teach Conseravatory Canada and The Royal Conservatory of Music. A conservatory specializes in the performing arts. The focus is the practical learning and performance.
For over 25 years, I am an active certified member of Ontario Registered Music Teachers’ Association and the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Association. The associations rely on teachers. They fulfill its mandate of the quality. Anyone can walk off the street and say; “I am a well qualified piano teacher.” but are not authorized. A good foundation is essential to the study. I teach beginners to advanced for kids and adults.
I have 3 pianos, a console, studio vertical, and a medium grand. I have a private studio so there are no distractions. Parents and siblings may wait in my smoke and pet free rec room. There are many reasons why you need a grand. The action is different. The touch, tone, pedals, key depth, length of the keys, sensitivity,I can go on. It is to the benefit of a student to play on a different piano. We cannot pack up and bring our own pianos to a performance.
There are 4 annual recitals at Hilldale Lutheran Church. The performers are given an opportunity to be a master of ceremonies. Students build up their self confidence, public speaking, and achieve high self esteem. My home studio is located at 107 Olympia Pl.
You need proper gear and instructions to play a sport. You need the same to learn how to play a piano. Contact me at any time.
Thank you.

Voice Lessons in Thunder Bay!
I am excited to start off 2023 singing and working with new students who are eager to discover, develop and refine their own artistry.
As a graduate of Sheridan College’s Honours Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance program and with over 14 years of voice training, I specialize in music theatre performance (storytelling through song, exploring text and music, process driven work, and creating a personalized approach to each song) and vocal technique (singing healthily, safely, comfortably, finding vocal freedom and support, creating colourful, rich, dynamic performances that feel connected and authentic to you and your voice).
Over my years of training, I have worked with and continue to work with the kindest, wisest, and most supportive voice teachers who I am so thankful for. I recognize and value the importance of having teachers who inspire and support their students. As a teacher, my primary focus is to uplift my students and provide a supportive environment to learn and grow.
Currently, I will be offering in-person lessons/coachings in Thunder Bay. As I am also an auditioning actor, this is subject to change to online/zoom lessons as needed. 30 minute, 45 minute and 1 hour sessions are available. This is a great time to work on repertoire for festivals, competitions and auditions for post-secondary programs.
For more details, rates and to sign up for lessons/coachings with me, please email me at ccarlyymartin@gmail.com.

I've been a guitarist for 38 years and a teacher for about 34 of those so I've taught many people and cover most styles. I tend to stay away from things like Jazz because I never studied that in particular but other than Jazz, I can teach pretty well anything. I'm semi retired now so I just want a few students who come to my home for lessons and my rates are really good at $25 per hour. I can do half hours too but prefer the hour. I also have a recording studio here (Buzzman Studio) and do a lot of writing and recording original material both by myself and with others. The studio is at your disposal too if you take lessons here. I can teach you how to record as well if that's something that interests you. Lessons are laid back and relaxed, stress isn't my friend and I like polite and respectful people to come here as I give my personal guarantee that you will receive the same. To take lessons here you also must not dislike cats as there are two here who are the actual owners of the house. They're polite and respectful as well. Phone is 613 417-7811 or send smoke signals or a beam in the sky and I will respond shortly. Playing guitar is an other worldly experience that should be experienced by as many humans (and other species) as possible. Cheers all, may rock and roll soothe your soul. Whether you're a beginner or more advanced, young or old, there is something for everyone. Whether you like blues, rock, country, jazz, or classical, I offer structured, no-nonsense lessons that are fully customized to you. And best of all, you don't have to leave the comfort of your own home.
My name is Ryan, and thanks for checking out my ad. I hear too many times from my students that the "last guy" didn't teach them anything. My students had no study notes, no books, no sheet music. So what did they do all week between lessons?
I don't just "show you how" to play a song, or only follow tab. You can follow tab on your own. I teach you how to do what I do, so you become independent and your lessons don't drag on. But real progress happens through practice during the week FOLLOWING my instruction, and shouldn't stay on hold until your next lesson because of having to wait till I "show you" the next part of our material.
I've been playing guitar (and many other instruments) for 25 years, teaching for over 15, and I play professionally all year round. I have students in Kingston, Belleville, Napanee, and everywhere in between. I've trained people for entry into Humber, Royal Conservatory, and just for their casual enjoyment. I use real music to teach compositional ideas and arranging, and it's all geared to your own interest. This keeps the lessons fun and interesting. Furthermore, I'm a high-honours graduate of world-renowned Harris Institute in Toronto with a background in sound engineering and recording. I can help you with your home studio and even show you how to do soldering and other types of repair work.
So if you're interested in finding quality lessons from a real teacher, and not just "that guy", give me a call or send me a message. Please also feel free to check out my website/Facebook for my testimonials, bio, and video samples.
RATES
- Skype/Online: $25/30 minutes or $40/60 minutes
- In-Home: $30/30 minutes or $50/60 minutes.
- 40 Robinson St (Napanee): $25/30 minutes or $40/60 minutes.YouTube: Beach Guitar Works

Hello!
My name is Chris Stork and I am offering online violin/viola lessons to beginners all the way up to advanced players in these strange times. My current students have been making lots of progress through the online classes so I thought I might open it up to the public! Since we all have plenty of time to learn that instrument we have always wanted to learn now.
I have teaching experience through the Northern Vermont University and several years of private teaching. I got my Undergraduate Degree as well as my Masters Degree in violin performance from McGill University in Montreal Quebec. I am now currently working as Principle Second of the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra, Assistant Principle Second with the Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra as well as sub with several other orchestras.
I teaching using a mixture of both the Galamian and Suzuki methods which have an emphasis more on guidelines and principals rather than strict rules. I charge 50 for an hour and 30 for half an hour but the first meeting is free just to see if it’s a good mix!
Hope to hear from you soon!
Chris Stork

You need the same to learn how to play piano.
