This is a brand new 4 weight 8’0” 4 piece Winston Pure rod not even taken out of the tube. Photos taken are of my own same rod. See my other listings for more fishing goodies.
This rod can also be purchased with a brand new Scientific Anglers WF4F Magnitude Trout Expert Clear Tip line for an extra $175 (normally 250 plus tax if you can even find it in Canada!). Likely the best line ever made for this rods application, and will pair perfectly with this rod for spooky browns on the Raven, Clearwater, Prairie Creek, etc.
You will get the warranty card so you can take it home and register it as the rods first owner (and likely the only one until you get buried with it…unless you decide a family member is deemed worthy in your will!).
These Pure rods (specifically in the 8’0” 4 weight configuration) have been deemed by many as the greatest dry fly rod of all time, and a true hall of famer so far as fly rod design goes. More modern technology than the much sought after and collectible Winston’s of decades past, but the same classic Winston feel that has kept them as an admired brand for decades.
Current rods on eBay of this configuration are asking 1500-2000 for used ones. See my other ads for more fishing gear.
Info that follows is from Winston:
The PURE series won IFTD’s Best of Show for freshwater rods in 2018, and for good reason: The ability of these medium-action rods to present flies in a delicate and accurate manner is unmatched, making them perfect for technical waters like the Henry’s Fork, spring creeks and backcountry beaver ponds filled with wary brookies. Rod comes with a graphite tube and logo rod sock.
8’0” 4WT: If you’re obsessed with feeding small flies to picky fish, our selection of 4 weight PUREs blend accuracy, delicacy, and fish fighting strength. Think any spring creek from Paradise Valley, Montana, to the world renowned Driftless area in Wisconsin. IDEAL FOR LIGHT NYMPH and dry fly fishing applications.
ACTION: Medium.
GRIP DESIGN: 6” cigar.
REEL SEAT: Tiger Maple Reel Seat with uplocking Nickel Silver hardware.
GUIDES: Chrome nanolite stripper guide/chrome plated, light wire snake guides.
SECTIONS: 4.
STORAGE: Premium Graphite Tube and Logo Rod Sock.
MANUFACTURED: Designed and Handcrafted in Twin Bridges, Montana, USA.
