Short Grass Ranches is a 70 year old family owned and operated business. We are looking for someone to join our team in the challenging agricultural industry.
We are a diverse operation consisting of a 7000 HD backgrounding feedlot, 1200 HD cow calf operation, irrigated and dry land farming.(This is a full time position)
Main aspects of the job include the following
-Day to day cattle/livestock operations:
-Operating feed-wagon
-Preparation of feeds (chopping hay, rolling grain)
-Equipment maintenance
-(Feedlot is empty 3 to 4 months over the summer)
-processing/sorting of feedlot cattle
-fencing
-assisting with calving duties and movement of cow/calf pairs through the summer
-Heavy equipment operation:
-Farming equipment
-Haying equipment
-Tractors, Front end loaders
-Applicants must have:
-Valid driver’s license is required (drivers abstract will be needed) Class1 licence is an asset but not required
-experience and knowledge of livestock care and low stress cattle handling is an asset
-Must be able to work well independently and as a team
-Willingness to learn
-Good communication skills

The work would include but not be limited to operating equipment such as tractors, trucks and various other farm machinery. Performing field work such as land preparation, seeding and harvesting. Preparing and maintaining equipment and trucks, and general yard work.
We are looking for a candidate with experience in this field. The candidate should have a minimum of a class 3 driver's licence, but class 1 would be preferred.
This is individual should be able to work independently, has integrity, is punctual, pays attention to detail and is committed to working safely. Must be able to work long hours when needed and under changing weather conditions.
The job is full time from April 1 until November 15, around 45 hrs weekly but higher during busy times like seeding and harvest. We would be willing to train a motivated individual and consider year round employment for the right candidate. Driver's abstract and references may be required.
