We are hiring an Operator + Skilled Labourer (one role) to support our modular construction in Pikangikum, Ontario.
ModBox NWO Inc. is a modular construction company based in Northwestern Ontario. We build modular structures for residential, commercial, workforce, and community-based projects, with work that supports both local and remote job sites. Our team takes pride in quality work and doing the job right for our clients.
This position is ideal for someone who has Operating Experience, is dependable, physically capable, and willing to help wherever needed. The Skilled Labourer portion of the role assists and completes carpentry tasks, running materials and equipment between the yard and job sites, and working with the carpentry team.
The schedule will be 21 days on, 7 days off, with room and board paid by the company.

Operator
- Site Preparation: Safely and efficiently operate heavy machinery including excavators, bulldozers, loaders to clear land, move materials, and prepare sites for construction.
- Screw Pile Installation: Safely operate specialized hydraulic equipment to precise depths, monitoring torque readings to ensure solid foundation placement.
- Site Coordination : Drive and maneuver commercial vehicles and heavy equipment between sites.
Equipment Operation and Driving: Drive and maneuver commercial vehicles and heavy equipment between sites.
- Logistics and Freight: Load and unload freight and materials using the appropriate equipment to keepsite prep moving smoothly.
- Maintenance and Inspections: Conduct routine pre-operation inspections and maintenance to ensure performance and longevity of all machinery.
- On-Site Troubleshooting: Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and minor repairs as needed to minimize project downtime in a remote setting.
- Project Execution: Follow blueprints, grade stakes, and supervisor instructions to complete earthmoving and site tasks accurately.
Skilled Labourer
- Completing carpentry work at the direction of the Supervisor and other Carpenters
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the jobsite
- Assist with general labour and helper duties around the shop as required
- Pick up and deliver materials, tools, and equipment between suppliers and job sites
- Support crews with basic tasks to keep work moving efficiently
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and productive work environment
