A CHRISTMAS SURPRISE !!!
Hello fellow neighbors. I am asking for help for my dad as a surprise. They 're fridge and cupboards are bare. Food is scarce.
Since my mother died 4.5 years ago, my dad's income has drastically dropped.
He is in a rough neighborhood where his car got vandalized and then hit by a snow plow totalling his vehicle all in the course of last year. With no proof he had to cover most of the expense. He financed a new car because he can't walk distances. The car is more expensive but it was the cheapest one he could get
They haven't really been able to have a good Christmas.
He helps some women in the neighborhood who finish work late by driving them home to ensure they're safety. He has taken care of my son and adopted him when he was 2 years old. He struggles on CPP paying expenses for 2 other family members apart from himself. My brother only works part-time, leaving my dad paying for his food on his little bit of income.
I am posting this hoping that some people who are better off, can maybe help them out and surprise them with a good Christmas .
I am in school and on social assistance I want to help them out but I simply can't. I struggle just to make my ends meet as single mom with my 10 month old daughter.
They could use food and whatever else you may think of.
My dad is too proud to ask people for help. The city doesn't give much in terms of a Christmas hamper. There's just too many people in need.He barely make's it each month. Sometimes his fridge is completely empty and cupboards will have only a few cans inside.
He was a hard worker in his younger years and now works hard to survive. He severed a tendent in his thumb many years ago and then got all sorts of health problems. He is an amazing dad and man, always thinking of others before himself.
I am hoping he can have a chance to be thought of by someone else.
At the moment my son (15 years old) doesn't have a winter jacket, I have been looking through thrift stores trying to find a good one. He's 15 years old and picky. I haven't found one I can afford that's to his liking. I feel terrible that I can't help my family in their times of need.
Thank you for your time
Happy holidays, cheers to all of you

Our English Conversation Group (ECG) has been helping newcomers practise and expand their everyday English since 1995. All we ask of our volunteers is that they have a decent command of English and a pleasant disposition.
On Monday evenings, volunteers and newcomers meet in a public place in old Ottawa East for one-on-one conversations. These conversations are relaxed and informal. You will meet new people, learn more about other cultures, and do a good deed in the process.

Hello there.
I am a 29 year old Fleming student. Recently I have uprooted my life and had to start again as I found out my husband of 8 years was having an affair. With that, I picked up my life and have moved to Peterborough. I managed to save up enough for first and last, and in an attempt to make my life better decided to go to school for social services with a secondary diploma in mental health and addictions. Recently, my computer broke and I am having to go to the local library and the employment counsilling center to do my assignments. I work on the weekends, but I can never seem to save up enough as somthing always happens which sets me back. I have cut costs in my life by using the foodbank and giving up my car...but it never seems to be enough. I do not have friends in the area, my mom passed away when I was little and my dad is not involved in my life, so I am doing everything on my own.
I have always been someone to help and contribute within my community. I have done an excessive amount of volenteer work with the cadets and United way, I helped my neighbors as much as I could, and I have tried to sustain good relations with those around me. I'm praying that will count on my karma scale and come back to me now as I need the support more then ever..If anyone is willing to make a donation to help me get a laptop, or has an old one they are willing to part with. It would literally change my life at this point. The one I need for school is 400.00.
Please know, im a person with feelings. Do not ask for nudes, please don't get weird...and please no awful comments. I feel like I'm already barley staying above water as it is...
Thank you !!

Carleton University Project Clearance
Clearance #: 117926 Date of Clearance: November 28, 2022
Volunteers needed for Couples Intimacy Study
We are looking for volunteers for a study examining physiological arousal during romantic couples’ conversations about sexual or relationship intimacy. Specifically, we want to examine differences in the quality of physiological arousal people exhibit when they discuss positive aspects of either sexual or relationship intimacy. Participants will receive an honorarium of $20.00 cash for participating and reimbursement for parking or bus fare, if needed. The study takes place at the Carleton University Social Psychophysiology (CUSP) Lab (Rooms A501 and A507 of the Loeb Building).
First, you will be asked to complete a brief online questionnaire to determine your eligibility to participate. Couples who are eligible will be asked to complete additional online surveys about their demographics, personality traits, and other related questions. Then, couples will come into our lab to talk about sexual or relationship intimacy while we continuously record their heart rate, thoracic blood flow, blood pressure, respiration rate, and electrodermal activity. Participants will be audio-recorded as they complete the study. We will also ask participants to complete questionnaires about their health and personal and relationship well-being. After discussing sexual or relationship intimacy participants will sit for a physiological recovery period. They will then be debriefed and compensated.
To ensure accurate physiological readings, if possible, please refrain from consuming any stimulants or depressants in the 24 hours prior to coming to our lab (i.e., alcohol, caffeine, marijuana, nicotine, or other controlled substances). At least 4 hours prior to the start of the session, please refrain from engaging in any physical exercise.
Please note: Electrode placement requires that experimenters come into physical contact with participants, and, in most cases, participants will be required to adjust or remove their outer clothing during electrode placement. We kindly ask that participants do not wear dresses, skirts, or shirts with large collars (e.g., turtleneck sweaters). This will ensure both maximum comfort for the participant and will ensure that we can collect high-quality data. Should a participant choose to remove their outer clothing for any of the above reasons, they will be offered a hairdresser’s apron to wear to ensure their privacy. At no point will a participant be asked to remove their undergarments.
To be eligible, you must be at least 18 years old, in a romantic relationship of six months or longer, and both partners of that relationship will need to consent to participate in the study together. Recruitment will allow for the inclusion of both heteronormative and same-sex couples. Given that this is a psychophysiological study, there are some eligibility requirements that apply: (1) they must not have been diagnosed with a cardiovascular disease such as hypertension or a heart murmur; (2) they must not have a pacemaker; and (3) they must not be pregnant or think they might be pregnant.
The study will take place on campus at Carleton University (Loeb Building, rooms A501 and A507) and should take approximately 2 hours to complete.
If you are interested, please email sexpositivestudy@protonmail.com for more details on participating.
This research has been cleared by Carleton University Research Ethics Board B Clearance # 117926.
Should you have any ethical concerns with the study, please contact the REB Chair, Carleton University Research Ethics Board-B (by phone: 613-520-2600 ext. 4085 or by email: ethics@carleton.ca). For all other questions about the study, please contact the researcher.
