Our Team
Our Newfoundland and Labrador Operations are an integrated mining, milling, and processing operation. Nickel concentrate from the fly-in, fly-out Voisey's Bay operation is shipped to our state-of-art Long Harbour Processing Plant where it is refined into low-carbon and high-purity nickel rounds, cobalt rounds and copper cathodes.
The Concentrator Team is responsible for processing the ore from the mines at site into a concentrate suitable for shipping and processing offsite and providing structural paste backfill for the underground mines.
The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Paste Plant Lead to join our Concentrator department in Voisey's Bay, NL. This is a permanent position.
This position is based at the Voisey's Bay mine site in Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation. This position is on a two week on, two week off rotation.
Reporting to the Concentrator Manager the Paste Plant Lead will manage the social, commercial, and technical processes within established limits in order to meet the production and maintenance objectives of the paste plant regarding safety, reliability, efficiency, and quality. The Paste Plant Lead is accountable to get the paste production process under control and maintain the paste production process within established limits. The Paste Plant Lead identifies negative variances outside these limits and takes action to prevent them from occurring. Moreover, the Paste Plant Lead ensures that the operation for their area of accountability meets all requirements with regards to regulations, company policies and practices, and collective agreements. Additionally, in this position, you will:
- Manage systems within the area of accountability to achieve the following outputs: safety, paste volumes, and paste quality.
- Demonstrate Zero Harm to employees, the business, the environment, and the community.
- Achieve/exceed production quality & quantity targets while maximizing economic resources and recovery.
- Achieve total product and unit cost expenditure targets.
- Review & communicate risk management situations with crew members at line up and field discussions.
- Follow notification protocols for incidents and initiate on-shift investigations.
- Lead and ensure safe production behaviors are exhibited by workers in the Paste Plant.
- Coach workers on consistently achieving ALARA and take corrective action when necessary to address noncompliance.
- Meet objectives and comply with; monthly safety plans, incident reporting process, policy/procedure reviews, MOC system, etc.
- Perform injury management by working with the employee and health care providers to successfully return the employee to work.
- Identify and correct negative special cause circumstances that are within authority level and escalate those that are outside authority.
- Continuously improve the performance of the production frontline team through effective use of established processes and procedures.
- Complete improvement projects as assigned.
- Consistently apply established policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Complete all production and/or maintenance related reports and work orders and communicate statuses to oncoming shift(s).
- Control in-plant inventories of consumables and supplies and order materials to achieve production schedules.
- Provide input and work collaboratively with peers and other departments to achieve capital (as applicable), production, and/or maintenance projects/schedules.
- Continually acquire knowledge and skills related to interaction with people, technical capability, and production processes.
- Assist in the development of short and long-term planning and with operational and capital budgeting.
- Act as a company representative on committees as required (e.g. JOHSC).
About You
Education:
- Post-Secondary education in an engineering technologist program is required.
Experience:
- 8-10 years of experience within a paste plant, concentrator, paste plant, or mineral processing plant is required.
Skills:
- Detailed knowledge of mineral processing plant operations and process troubleshooting.
- Proven skills in leadership, coaching and performance management.
- Familiarity with safety systems and accident/incident investigation in an industrial setting.
- Familiarity with the NL OHS Act and Regulations.
- Solid oral and written communication skills.
- Computer literacy, working familiarity with MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

The Mine Maintenance department is responsible for the maintenance on all mobile equipment at the Voisey's Bay Mine Site. The department attends to a variety of surface and underground equipment including but not limited to Dozers, Excavators, Haul Trucks, Drills, Loaders, Jumbos, Bolters, LHD's, etc. Additionally, the department is responsible for supporting the entire light vehicle fleet including Pick-Up Trucks, Semis, Forklifts, and other equipment. The Mine Maintenance department is comprised of highly skilled Heavy Duty Equipment Technicians, Automotive Technicians, Truck and Transport Technicians, Welders, and Engineers.

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician – Truck & Transport Mechanic to join our Surface Mine Maintenance department in Voisey's Bay, NL. This is a permanent position.
This position is based at the Voisey's Bay mine site in Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation. This position is on a two week on, two week off rotation.
Reporting to the Mine Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician – Truck & Transport Mechanic is responsible for the preventative maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of medium and other light vehicles on site. The Maintenance Technician – Truck & Transport Mechanic is also responsible for maintaining equipment safely and effectively to meet performance requirements and the needs of the organization. The Maintenance Technician – Truck & Transport Mechanic will work out of the Light Vehicle Shop with a diverse team of various tradespeople. Additionally, in this position, you will:
- Service, inspect, and repair various makes and models of diesel-powered medium and light-duty equipment, as well as small gasoline powered recreational and utility vehicles.
- Ensure safe operating conditions of the medium and light vehicle fleet.
- Diagnose and repair driveline, fuel, exhaust, cooling, electrical, or any other medium or light vehicle issues.
- Use various types of diagnostic equipment including OEM and aftermarket systems.
- Provide part requirements and labour estimates to plan future repairs.
- Complete other job-related documentation and paperwork as required.
- Work with a focus on continuous improvement and achieving departmental performance objectives.
About You
Education:
- College diploma in Truck and Transport Mechanic is required.
- An Interprovincial Red Seal certification in the above trade is required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-4 years' experience as a Truck and Transport Mechanic.
- Fleet management experience in a mining environment is considered an asset.
- Previous mining and/or heavy construction experience is required.
- Experience with using computers to build part lists and find diagnostic information.

We are currently seeking two (2) Safety Trainers to join our Learning & Development department in Voisey's Bay, NL. These are fixed-term positionsbased at the Voisey's Bay mine site in Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation. These positions are on a two week on, two week off rotation.
In supporting the implementation and maintenance of the Safety, Health and Environmental Management System, the safety trainer will lead the delivery of all safety training for the business. Safety training programs necessary to support the business are derived from sound principles of risk management and are based on site specific requirements, expectations of the Vale Global Health and Safety business unit, and provincial/federal legislation. By ensuring effective delivery of safety training programs for the operation, the safety trainer is integral in supporting the development of employee knowledge and skills which are vital to sound risk management in daily work activities. In support of site safety training requirements, the safety trainer role will deliver safety training to all site personnel, including applicable orientation programs, company specific training and regulatory training. They will assist in the development, review and revision of safety training programs and provide field instruction and competency evaluations as necessary to support applicable training programs. The safety trainer will liaise with operational departments to optimize delivery of training, maximizing values of time and resources. They will also maintain required trainer certifications necessary to deliver safety training programs and keep current with legislation and industry best practice in support of safety training program continuous improvement. The safety trainer will provide feedback as necessary, to respective departments, on individual performance noted during the delivery of safety training programs and provide advice and support in the field as necessary to support the implementation of safety training programs where practical instruction is necessary to support classroom theory.
Additionally, in this position, you will:

- Provide technical safety support and information to site personnel.
- Support the development and implementation of corrective actions to prevent, eliminate, control or reduce occupational health and safety problems.

- Preferred certifications: WorkplaceNL certified in Fall Protection, Confined Space, Power Line Hazards, Supervisor Health & Safety, Occupational Health and Safety Committee Standards, as well as St John Ambulance First Aid
Experience:

The Underground Fixed Plant Maintenance team consists of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation journeypersons and apprentice trades, engineers and planners. The team is responsible for maintaining all fixed assets throughout the Eastern Deeps and Reid Brook Mines. This includes dewatering pumps, ventilation equipment, portable refuge stations, 13.8kV/1000V/600V power distribution equipment and bulk material handling systems. The team is also integrated into the U/G mine development cycle by supporting power, ventilation, dewatering, LTE and communications installations as the mines advance.

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician – Underground Electrician to join our Underground Fixed Plant Maintenance department in Voisey's Bay, NL. This is a permanent position.
This position is based at the Voisey's Bay mine site in Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation. This position is on a two week on, two week off rotation.
Reporting to the Underground Electrical Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician – Underground Electrician is responsible for repairing, troubleshooting, adjusting, overhauling, servicing, and maintaining equipment within the underground mines' facilities. Additionally, in this position, you will:
- Install new electrical infrastructure and components.
- Perform preventive checks according to preventive maintenance plans on equipment including 1000V Mobile Electric equipment, Underground LTE communications network, Electric pumps, conveyors, PLC's, 13.8KV/5KV/600V/120/208 power systems, and other fixed plant underground equipment for proper performance.
- Inspect equipment for detect faults and malfunctions.
- Set a high standard in safety and help promote safety with peers.
- Complete breakdown, corrective and minor reports.
- Assist in troubleshooting of plant electrical components.
- Inspect, examine, and test parts to recommend the extent and nature of the work to be done.
- Test and adjust repaired systems for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer's specifications and the functional needs of the operation.
- Adjust, repair, or replace defective parts and components of the equipment systems.
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.
- Conduct final inspections to ensure that work detailed on work order has been completed to meet safety standards.
- Provide feedback improvement suggestions to the supervisor and planner and implement those that are within your ability.
- Improve equipment availability and efficiency through quality maintenance and failure analysis.
About You
Education:
- College diploma in Industrial Electrician.
- An Interprovincial Red Seal certification in the above trade is required.
- An Interprovincial Construction Electrician Red Seal with heavy industrial experience may be considered.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years' Journeyperson experience.
- Previous mining or heavy industrial experience is required.
- Experience in an underground environment is an asset
- Previous experience with high voltage, underground conveyors, dewatering systems, and communication systems would be an asset.
Skills:
- Ability to work within an underground mine setting, which could include conditions such as: various temperature fluctuation, wet, damp, cramped, and dark work areas.
- Knowledge of the repair and maintenance of fixed plant equipment.
- Innovation and ability to use initiative.

The Mine Maintenance department is responsible for the maintenance on all mobile equipment at the Voisey's Bay Mine Site. We are currently seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our Mobile Maintenance department in Voisey's Bay, NL. This is a permanent position.
This position is based at the Voisey's Bay mine site in Labrador, a fly-in-fly-out operation. This position is on two weeks on, two weeks off rotation.
Reporting to the Mine Maintenance Superintendent, the Maintenance Engineer will provide expertise in the Mobile Maintenance department encompassing all mobile equipment. They will act as a leader in improving the overall equipment performance and reducing costs through establishment and implementation of proactive and reactive maintenance programs. They will, lead the development of maintenance team skills in improvement related activities, continuously monitor and analyze equipment performance, and facilitate improvement projects based on this data. Additionally, in this position, you will:
- Increase equipment availability and efficiency.
- Identify and capture opportunities for improvement in equipment maintainability and reliability.
- Keep current with latest equipment, technologies, and maintenance methods.
- Help manage planning for equipment and maintenance resources.
- Apply asset management and maintenance systems data.
- Provide technical support and troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA). Analyze historical data to improve asset use, mitigate defects, and reduce the likelihood of failures.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of equipment reliability.
- Contribute to elaborate the maintenance schedule to minimize equipment down time and optimize reliability.
- Support mobile maintenance department with his technical specification internal process development and implementation.
About You
Education:
- A bachelor's degree in engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation with PEGNL; eligible or obtained
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years working in a role of similar experience in a related field.
- Experience working in an industrial environment such as mining or construction is preferred.
- Experience with underground mobile equipment would be an asset.
- Experience with Drilling Equipment (Surface and Underground) considered strong asset.
Skills:
- In depth knowledge of heavy equipment (manufacturing, laws and regulations, technical specification, maintenance, etc.).
- Knowledge of diesel power generation would be an asset.
- Strong skills in SAP would be an asset.
- Strong knowledge of MS office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to make focused, quick decisions and perform under pressure.

The Mechanical Maintenance Planner will support our Utilities Maintenance department at the Voisey's Bay Mine Site. The Mechanical Maintenance Planner will work closely with all areas of maintenance and operations to ensure work is planned, scheduled, and ready for safe and accurate execution. The Mechanical Maintenance Planner will ensure adequate utilization of resources, labour, and materials.
Additionally, in this position, you will:
- Ensure that work plans are designed to safely operate without impact to employees, the business, the environment, the community, and the regulators.
- Establish and communicate work schedules and verify that schedules satisfy daily and long-term requirements.
- Assemble ready to execute job packages.
- Identify and escalate all critical issues that threaten the successful execution of work orders to meet completion deadlines.
- Improve the efficiency of the planning process by developing and using standard jobs as templates.
- Assist the team in achieving the overall area targets.

We are looking for someone who can help out with most aspects of the grain operation.
Particularly looking for someone who wants to learn how to be a sprayer operator or is a experienced sprayer operator.
As well as spraying will also be involved with day to day operations of the farm wich can include but are not limited to
Combine operation
Grain cart
Air drill
Hauling grain
Haying
Loading trucks
Working in shop in winters and other day to day operations
We are open to someone with limited farm experience and are willing to train the right employee.
Assets would include
mechanically inclined
Class 1A
Farm experience
Heavey equipment experience
Housing is available if necessary
Minimum 5 weeks off a year
Only 10 Saturdays a year required to work but can work more if wanted
Never work Sundays
Wages is dependent candidate and if housing is needed but would range from $25-$45/hr
