V G L Group Ltd is now hiring a Commercial Kitchen Exhaust Technician We are looking for 1 individual who would like to join our tight-knit team from April to January .
We use hot-water pressure washing to clean exhaust systems. (Please see our web site http://www.vglgroup.ca/) Please be aware that this position involves working at heights, working outdoors and indoors, wet/damp, environments. You sometimes get dirty. It is physical and requires manual dexterity. It is a combination of sitting, standing, kneeling, bending and crouching.
Our main type of work is in restaurants, but we also service institutions (schools, hospitals, Long-Term Care Homes).
We use a high-end hot water skid mounted pressure washer that goes up to 285 degrees Celsius and produce 8 gal per min. of water; experience with this type of equipment is preferred. There is a degree of mechanical problem solving that is involved in this type of work, any mechanical skills are a bonus.
Completion of high school OR experience and skills are required, additional licenses and courses are asset. Essential skills include writing and communication, working well with others There is significant use of memory and continuous learning.
A driver’s license is a must for this position as there are often out of town contracts, with some overnight trips. The main vehicle is supplied by the employer for work, but employees are responsible for their transportation to the workshop. Applicants must be able to produce basic security clearance (clear criminal record check), a clean driving record (abstract). There will be a driver’s validity license check.
There is training, then the new employees are expected to become a part of a regular 2-person team. Employees are expected to maintain the NFPA 96 standards for fire safety, have a keen eye for detail to problem solve issues, and have a good customer service approach. New employees will be expected to provide their own CSA approved safety boots.
Optimally and normally this position is a full-time job, however, It is a job that requires you to be on emergency call, work some weekends, some days, but often in the evening or at night. We shut down for the winter and fire back up in the early spring (typically mid-March), so this position is good till Christmas, then back at it again in the following spring.
Salary: $21.00 to , $27.00 based on experience, there is a 3-month probation period. V G L Group Ltd also offers a bonus, if work is done in a timely manner.

Role Summary

What You’ll Do
• Clean and prepare sites as directed by the assigned Supervisor.
• Help equipment operators and other skilled labourers when necessary.

• Assist the pipe crew with manual tasks in trenches.
• Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
• Safely operate various hand tools.
• Clean and maintain construction equipment appropriately.
• Load and unload equipment and materials from trucks and move them to respective work areas.
