The Educational Assistant works with students requiring targeted and specialized supports and services to effectively participate in their learning community. Tasks performed are varied and dependent on student needs. Responsibilities include assisting with and adapting academic tasks, implementation of strategies intended to support socially appropriate behaviours, attending to physical needs as well as medical needs specific to individual students, and monitoring progress.
Educational Assistants work collaboratively within the school community to share information, reflect on effectiveness of strategies, suggest modifications to existing or novel strategies to maximize student success. While working under the direction of teachers, educational assistants primarily focus on identified students and will be adept at quickly developing trust and rapport with students and staff.
Educational Assistants are an integral part of a dynamic and collaborative team, who work supporting students requiring behavioural supports and/or complex physical disabilities/developmental delays and will be expected to assume other duties, as required.
What will you do?
Applicants will work as a team to support students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 with varying needs, including behavioural challenges and/or complex physical disabilities, developmental delays and/or severe medical needs. Duties will include ensuring all students’ safety at all times, implementing individualized programs and carrying out Positive Behaviour Support Plans as developed by the student’s Learning Team. Lethbridge School Division makes every effort to ensure staff and student safety, while understanding not every behaviour on the part of students, can be anticipated. Targeted behaviours may include, but are not limited to, severe opposition, hitting, kicking, spitting, biting, scratching, and throwing of objects and the use of inappropriate and/or threatening language. Specialized training such as Supporting Individuals through Valued Attachments (SIVA) would be an asset.

What do you need to succeed?
Training and/or experience working with students with severe behaviour challenges is necessary as well as an understanding of neurodiversity, such as ASD, ODD, FASD, ADHD and/or other behavioural disabilities. Preference will be given to the candidate with proven experience executing Positive Behavior Support Plans. Training and/or experience supporting students with Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy and/or Speech-Language acquisition needs would be an asset.
Lethbridge School Division embraces a philosophy/belief of inclusion for all students. Being self-directed, flexible and finding creative ways to connect with and regulate students are considered to be important skills of the successful candidate. Additionally, the successful candidate must have strong communication skills and show initiative in solving problems and creating opportunities for student success.
Applicants will possess, or develop, a true working knowledge within early literacy and the speech and language acquisition process and have experience in supporting programs for students in their early years of development. Training and/or experience in sign language, Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) and/or Hanen (Learning Language and Loving It/ABC & Beyond) are assets.

A Caretaker can make minor adjustments to the building, equipment and furniture. They will work the evening shift during the school term, however day shift is required periodically (rotation shift/non instructional days). Caretakers must be able to work unsupervised for long periods of time. Caretaker work demands good health in order to fulfill the physical demands, e.g., lifting chairs, filing cabinets, furniture, boxes of materials, cleaning equipment and climbing stairs/ladders. The daily work routine involves the use of various chemicals.
The school is used by the community after school and into the evening, requiring all staff to be aware of the demand and needs of all the user groups. Candidates must be team players within both the caretaking and whole school staff and be able to relate to students.
Typical duties of a Caretaker include but are not limited to:

Key Responsibilities
• Field Operations: Operate and maintain farm machinery for cutting, raking, and baling hay.
• Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on tractors, balers, and other implements to ensure optimal performance.
• Harvest Support: Assist with the loading, transport, and stacking of hay bales in storage facilities.

What do you need to succeed?

Training and/or experience supporting students with Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy and/or Speech-Language acquisition needs would be an asset.

Lethbridge School Division is accepting applications for a temporary Caretaking position.
The Caretaker is responsible for completing cleaning duties and responsibilities to a high standard within the school. The Caretaker is responsible to the Head Caretaker or designate. The Caretaker must be able to communicate and interact positively with students, co-workers, and school administration to ensure all needs are addressed at the school site. A Caretaker can make minor adjustments to the building, equipment and furniture. They will work the evening shift during the school term, however day shift is required periodically (rotation shift/non instructional days). Caretakers must be able to work unsupervised for long periods of time. Caretaker work demands good health in order to fulfill the physical demands, e.g., lifting chairs, filing cabinets, furniture, boxes of materials, cleaning equipment and climbing stairs/ladders. What do you need to succeed?
Training and/or experience working with students with severe behaviour difficulties is necessary as well as an understanding of ASD, ODD, FASD, ADHD and/or other behavioural disabilities. Preference will be given to candidates with proven experience executing Positive Behavior Support Plans. Training and/or experience with OT/PT would be an asset. The successful candidate must be willing to provide personal care, lifting and toileting support for students and participating in community activities (such as swimming and skating). The Stress, Interpersonal Relationships and Health Lab (SIRH) is looking for couples in which at least one partner is trying to change their diet and/or physical activity habits. The main goal of this study is to investigate how different types of couples’ behaviors influence change in eating and physical activity behaviors over time.
Participation in our study involves completing questionnaires and participate in a discussion task.
Earn up to 100$ over 3-months for participating in this study.
